Once upon a time you and Madison were inseparable.
Childhood best friends who did everything together and spent every second of the day with one another.
If you weren't at her house then she was at yours.
Your favorite thing to do with each other was wait until late at night and sneak out on the roof.
You both could look at the stars forever. Madison always picked the brightest two stars in the sky and mention how it was the two of you.
So much so that you would tell everyone that you and Madison were stars.
It was your favorite thing to do and even now you would call it the best time of your life.
Everything had went so good until one day the little girl in Madison got cold.
Her everyday visits would stop and when you'd knock on the door you got no answer.
She stopped talking to you in school and associated herself with the kids who got into trouble.
When you would try and talk to her she would shut you out, treating you like you were  annoying or wasting her time.
Now the two of you were strangers.
Every night you would still sit on the roof and look at the stars. You often would think about your best friend and wondered what went wrong. You never got the courage to even try to figure out years later.
Your mind was completely off Madison the next day.
You went to school like any other day and it had went as usual.
It was your last period of the day but you got to be a student helper for the office.
It was a unusually slow day. Not too many slips to take to classrooms so you pretty much got to do whatever you want around the halls and outside the school building.
You got bored sitting inside the library and decided to go outside to get some air.
There was no gym class going on so you made your way to the back of the building to go towards the tracks.
You made your way towards the bleachers to sit under them like you would often do.
As you got closer, you noticed what looked to be smoke coming from under them.
When you got under them to see what it was you stopped in your tracks.
Standing with her back towards you was Madison. You could tell from behind she was smoking a cigarette.
She turned around to toss her bud in a opposite direction.
"

Holy fuck," Madison said jumping a bit "you scared the fuck outta me." The blonde chuckled as she pushed on her sunglasses. Without saying another word, she went to walk pass you.
"Wait!" You called out without thinking.
Madison turned back around with an eyebrow raised in confusion. By the look on her face, you could have sworn she didn't recognize you which was hard to believe.
"I...ugh" you stuttered a bit trying to figure out the words you've been wanting to say since the last time you talked.
"I have to get back to class."
She walked off.
Your body felt numb as you tried your hardest to figure out the words you wanted to say.
You sat under the bleachers in a trance until the sound of the end of the day bell rang in your ears.
You didn't do much when you got home. You laid in bed thinking about the million things you wanted to ask Madison. All the things you had been practicing in your head for years.
You couldn't help but think of the emotionless look on the blondes face. Had she totally forgotten about you? Were you the only one who still cared?
It replayed in your mind until you couldn't take it anymore.
It was late in the night when you grabbed your coat. You just needed to take a walk to clear your mind.
You slipped out the front door and began to walk towards the end of the street.
Madison's house was walking distance from  yours and you just wanted to hurry up and walk pass it so you could take your mind off her for a little bit.
As you neared closer to it you noticed something strange in the distance.
Sitting on the roof of her home was Madison.
You looked in confusion for a bit before walking in her yard.
Madison looked down but didn't say anything like she expected you to be there.
"Come up."
She called down motioning her head sideways towards the thick vines growing on the side of her house.
You hesitated a bit before slowly climbing up it.
Awkward was the nicest way to put it after the early encounter the two of you shared.
You sat next to Madison who was looking up at the night sky.
The silence stayed thick in the air. You nibbled on your bottom lip feeling confused
"You were my best friend."
Madison finally spoke. She reached in her cost pocket and pulled a pack of cigarettes out. She placed one between her lips and lit it.
You watched her inhale and release the smoke. She didn't say another word but kept looking at the sky.
"You were my best friend too." You eventually spoke "and you abounded me."
The crack in your voice and burning in your eyes made you realize that you had been crying. The feelings that had been a burden on your heart and mind for years were finally coming out in a strange way, like you stepped in a different dimension.
Madison looked towards you. For the first time you saw a bit of emotion
"I didn't abound you I saved you."
She took another drag of her cigarette.
"I'm a monster,y/n." She said quietly now "I ruin everyone I'm around and I couldn't do that to you. My heart wouldn't handle it."
Madison let out a sigh and whipped her eyes with the back of her hand, struggling not to show any sign of crying.
"I'm a mess."
She laughed a little which made you smile from how much you missed that sound.
Flashbacks of all the times you all laughed together flooded your mind. They were happy memories but it still made your heart ache.
"You're not a monster, Madison. I could have helped you. We could have figured something out together."
S

he didn't answer back. She kept her eyes on the stars and pointed to the brightest ones.
"I look at those every night and wonder if you're doing it to. It feels like home when I look at them."
The tears were now painfully obvious on the young girls face.
When you heard the little whimper leave her lips, you wrapped your arms around her shoulders.
You hugged her tight.
Your body relaxed as you felt her hug back.
It was a strange feeling. Hugging someone you haven't talked to in years under the pale moon light on a roof.
But Madison was right. It felt like home in that moment.

This song was literally made for Madison and I had such a good idea and blanked out near the end. I'm definitely going to rewrite this soon just wanted to publish a Madison story real quick in case I lost the idea. Give me some ideas on what to do with this story and song because like I said Madison is literally Michelle and you can't convince me otherwise.
