Grey on brown. The second our eyes met I took notice of how those eyes had changed from their former glory. Almost—kinder. They're still the piercing grey color that makes my knees week. And they still hold confidence, stubbornness, and resentment. But the resentment— I don't think it's for me.
His eyes now hold new emotions ones I haven't seen his eyes hold before. Adoration—Maybe. Happiness. And no sign of judgment anywhere in there. Could he have actually changed?
No— No, Hermione. Remember he's the one who calls you a mudblood, he's the one who bullies you relentlessly, and he's the one who discriminates against anyone like you.
But then why is he sitting here with a known muggleborn and having a conversation with him. It didn't look like a bad conversation either seeing as Draco was laughing. I don't think I've ever seen Draco laugh like that. Only when he's laughing at me, when making fun.
Maybe he can change.
Draco's POV:
She's gorgeous. It feels like I had forgotten the color of her eyes, the way her hair curls, those muggle jeans that I will never admit to liking. But there's something new. Yes, she's definitely come into her form. She's filled out. Her curves, Salazar free my mind of its impurities. I feel faint just looking at her. She's kind of, extremely hot.
Okay Draco. We get it. Focus.
"Granger" I say as she shakes her head almost like she's come out of a trance.
"Malfoy" it's weird her voice doesn't hold the normal spite that I'm so used to. When her voice is not spiteful or angry, it's almost angelic. Salazar, I can only imagine what her voice would sound when holding compassion and love. Or dare I say want.
She looks away from me. "Matt. It's nice to see you again. How have you been?" She asks kindly.
She knows Matthew. How? This is not okay, the whole time I've been spilling my guts to him about her and he's know her personally the whole time.
"I'm doing alright, Hermione. How are you?" He ask looking over at me with a smirk.
"I'm doing fine."
"What about you're parents. How have they been?" What he knows her parents, what's happening?
"Oh um they're— alright." she says warily, glancing over at me. What did I do. How does her parents being alright have anything to do with me, that she feels the need to look and sound like that.
Oh right. I'm a muggle hater. Psh. I can't wait to prove her wrong. "That's nice" I say cockily. That will show her. Hmph.
She just looks at me like I'm insane. Her gaze then shifts to my mother.
"Hello Mrs. Malfoy. It's nice to see you."
"It's lovely to see you as well, Ms. Granger. But I must insist that you call me Narcissa."
"Well then I must insist that you call me Hermione, Narcissa" she says with a smile.
"Of course." my mum says.
"Well 'Mione. We better be on our way. It lovely to see you Cissy and you're friend." Pansy says with a wink. Then she sends me a curt nod with a rather short, "Draco"
I didn't even notice Pansy was there but she's gone before I can ask her about it. Oh well I'll see her at school. But then I notice Granger is still here looking down at me, skeptically.
"It was nice to see you, Granger."
"Mmm you too, Draco" then with that she walks away. Did she just call me Draco. What is this life.
Hermione's POV:
Pansy and I find the rest of our group and I let out a confused, "You'll never guess what just happened."
"What" Ronald asked.
"We ran into the Malfoy's minus Lucius. And they were rather nice. Draco didn't make any rude comment and he actually addressed me kindly."
"Oh yeah. We forgot to tell you." says Harry. Wait what. What does he know.
"Yeah. Over the summer, we were practicing quidditch at an actual field when Malfoy showed up. We thought he was going to start insulting us but instead he addressed us rather calmly and apologized for everything. He had a bit of resentment towards me. I could tell. But I don't think that has anything to do with me." Ronald says with a smirk looking at me.
"Oh" was all I could manage. And then Harry continues.
"He also said that all of his prejudices are gone and that his mother is currently dating a muggleborn. He said he's actually quite fond of her boyfriend."
"Oh" once again all I could manage. This doesn't seem right. How could Draco just change.
I'll have to talk to him. Maybe on the train or at Hogwarts.
If this is true then maybe we might be able to be friends. I would love to be more but it's not like he will ever see me as more then that. I mean look at me, I'm just so boring and normal.
Oh well, at least we can be friends. It might be difficult seeing as sometimes I want to jump his bones. But I will try to control myself.
