Chapter 2 ½ : Cold
POV Inko
Month Two
Her hair was gently being brushed by her Green Bean, he was humming a tune that sounded like a fifties song. She started chemo the other week, doctor Everstar said to expect some hair loss but thus far nothing happened. She was hoping it wouldn't happen at all.
She loved her hair. Izuku lived for brushing it every time she took a shower and started to brush it. He would beg to brush it, stating that he wanted long hair and it was fun.
So she allowed her son to brush it every week on the weekends. Her hair was all the way down her waist, it was dark green with some grey and whites starting to grow from aging.
She didn't mind it, it reminded her of the superhero Rogue from X-Men. The brushing felt so nice after taking a shower, her hair was conditioned and smelt good. All was well, until it happened.
"Uh Mom? Is this supposed to happen?" Her son's voice broke through her train of thoughts, his voice sounded like he was going to start crying. She bent sideways and her heart plumpted to the ground.
There in the hair brush was a clump of her green hair.
She shakley reached back to her head with her hand and felt for a bald spot and found it.
She whimpered quietly.
Izuku started crying.
She cleared her throat feeling a lump there from the tears that threatened to come out.
"Yes honey just keep brushing no matter what okay? It's okay, Green Bean. It's normal." She turned back to the front of the TV and watched his reflection and saw him reach for the brush.
He gently began again without humming and he paused every now again to reach out and take the clumps out of the brush. By the time he was done they both had tears streaming down their faces.
She stood up and turned around and hugged her son and they both sobbed from the loss of hair.
Later that day when Mitsuki came over Inko had her shave her head bald, saying it was too painful to keep losing the hair in clumps.
Inko donated her hair to the cancer center for other patients and went about her day.
When she returned home, she got a surprise.
Mitsuki, Katsuki, and her little Green Bean all had their heads shaved bald.
"We didn't want you to feel alone. Inko We know it was hard for you to shave your hair. We love you Sweetie and we will never abandon you."
