Chapter Six: Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Mystery Man POV

Month 5 ½

It was just another day in his life that he wished he could have saved them all.

For his punishment he got Cancer.

The Big Capitalized C word, that was rare among the world these days but, he was one of the five percent who got it.

It served him right, a constant reminder that he couldn't save those two people in the collapsed building.

He was living in hell.

The constant pain of the tumor in his stomach.

The headaches that lasted for days on end.

He didn't take any treatment.

Didn't deserve it.

The throbbing only reminded him he was alive.

"Are you sure you don't want to do the chemo? Your chances of living are a good twenty-five percent more with doing it." The doctor said to him. Honestly, he just wanted to die at home peacefully. By himself. For himself. It was a dull world around himself, a cloud of misery, gray no colors to lighten his mood.

"I am sure Doctor Everstar. I don't want the chemo. I want to die at home." He mumbled the last words. He didn't want to be picked and prodded. He wanted to die.

"Ah okay then Mr. Toshinori, you have my blessing and I won't ask again. Just please make sure to come to your appointment next time. I won't reschedule again. Please take this disease seriously." The doctor's Mohawk flared bright blue and then pink. His quirk? Moods. He could express his moods through his hair and project it to others. It helped with being a doctor.

Toshinori, who is formally known by his alias All Might nodded again before getting up from his chair and going out of the room. Not even noticing the woman who went in the door.

He stayed in the hallway, pacing wondering what his life goal was. What he was supposed to do for the world. In the next five months as his body gave out. He couldn't think of anything at that moment.

An hour went by and he finally got the courage to walk out but bumped into a woman. His breath caught. She was beautiful. Her eyes, forest green, her hair was put into a braid that went down to her waist; it too was a deep forest green. She ran and then promptly fell to the ground wailing in anguish.

His mouth opened in a huge gap. That woman shouldn't be crying. She was too amazing to cry like this! He had to do something. He looked frantically around and noticed nobody was moving to help her. So he took a moment and walked over and crouched by her.

"I'm sorry miss but you looked awfully sad and I couldn't just leave you like that." He remembered saying that on their first day of meeting, and then her being embarrassed for staring at his eyes.

He chuckled remembering that.

He never questioned why she was there at the office.

It never crossed his mind, to be fair it could have been anyone who had the C.

But never her.

He never thought she would have Cancer, Breast cancer at that.

So, he got her name, Inko. Then started to uh totally not being a stalker he scolded himself after the third time of bumping into each other. He saw color. He wanted to live. She made his world so bright, how could he not want to live even if it's only for her?.

He wanted to be too. He wanted to shine as radiantly bright as Inko. How he wished for that light to return to him.

So after three months of not getting treatments he went back into Everstar's office and firmly told the doctor to put him on the chemotherapy list. The doctor shook his head, chuckling but nodded. His Mohawk was yellow and pink. He was pleased.

Then on the fourth month of doing chemo himself, he went bald. Toshinori had wigs made up for himself in case it ever happened. The pain was excruciating, nausea was terrible. He wondered if this was what the woman went through while pregnant. Constantly having back pain and throwing up. If so he respected women so much more.

By the fifth month he finally mustered up the courage to ask her out. She said yes. He whooped for joy and carried on and said he would see her in two weeks.

She never came.

She never not came to an appointment. It wasn't like her. He knew she liked seeing him, and going to Everstar's appointments was the law. You never, ever skipped his appointments because he would hunt you down.

He grew worried as days passed and he stayed there and went home and stayed there and went back home. Everstar took pity on him on week two of pacing the hallways.

"Lad, she went into surgery. She's at home recovering. She'll be here next week. Now go home and stop pacing up and down my hallways. You've created track marks on them." The Scottish doctor pointed to the skid marks and he immediately blushed.

"Uh, of course, sorry about that, thanks for the information." He stuttered and zoomed away.

What was the surgery for?

Why didn't she say anything?

Why didn't he ask?

What the hell was wrong with him?

He just wanted to see her.

Please let me see her again! I need to tell her I love her.
