That night was heavy for the Rauf family. A tamasha (drama) ensued after Zahir woke up. Momina's sweet words also didn't cajole him. He tried to take out his anger on Sehrish, but Hasan stepped in to save her. Zahir was waiting to confront his younger brother, who was being hidden from him. Luckily, this time Mahmood interrupted him, also reprimanded Zahir. That didn't go well with Momina and him.
Later in the night, Hasan couldn't sleep. He kept admiring his engagement ring and grinning. He sat up on the bed and checked on his brothers. After assuring that they were asleep, he picked up his phone and rushed outside. He stood by the jharokha, dialing a number, and placed the phone against his ear. It was only three to four rings and, then she picked it up.
Her voice was uncertain - "Hasan?"
He smiled to himself - "Sanam?" He could feel his heart palpitate, and he quickly wiped his damped palm over the wooden material. A moment after he had spoken, he heard her crying. Now, he panicked, - "Are you alright?"
She sniffed, - "I am just grateful to Allah that I got saved from marrying your brother."
Hasan let out a breath, leaning his head against the jharokha - "Don't think about that, Sanam. Now, you are my fiancé."
There was silence - "You consider us as engaged? You want us to get married?"
"Of course, don't you?" He straightened, looking down at the banyan tree in the courtyard. He heard a muffled chuckle and, the phone got disconnected. He moved the phone from his ear and stared confusedly at it.
Usman Beig had arranged a five-star hotel stay for his guests, including Sanam's friends Anaisha and her gang.
Anaisha freshened up and walked into her room. Two other girls from her group stayed with her. She sat at the mirror and mindlessly applied moisturizer on her arms. The two brothers, Zahir and Hasan, were like poles apart, literally. And there were mixed feelings about Hasan getting engaged to Sanam. Why was she so bothered about that? Yet, her lips formed a smile recollecting Hasan's bright, happy face.
