Around 5 am, Hasan's alarm rang, and he groggily sat up on the bed. The bed in front was occupied by James Howard, the first-year Arts department. He had gelled well with Shivansh and Hasan. Shivansh had referred to them as Amar Akbar Antony but Hasan was skeptical as he felt it was too early. The rest of the occupants of the room were their seniors, and they didn't interact with them much.
Hasan glanced out of the window and stared out at the dark sky. He yawned, dragging himself down the bed. Picking up his towel, he silently walked out of the room. The long corridor was dimly lit, one of the tube-lights above him flickered. He ignored it and entered the common bathroom. A strong sting welcomed him, and he pressed the edge of the towel against his nose. The bathroom was otherwise clean, and the array of whitewash basins were sparkling. Holding his breath, Hasan brushed his teeth and then performed his ablution.
The room was still dark, but the lights from the corridor burst into the room as he walked in. After choosing the spot, he laid his prayer mat and wore his skull cap. Before starting, he looked around at the sleeping figure and mentally decided to be silent.
After he was done, he got up and neatly closed his prayer mat, and placed it inside his cupboard.
The gentle rays of the dawning sun fell inside the room from the window and the pure breeze was pleasing and rejuvenating. Hasan enjoyed the view of the lustrous garden for a moment and then realized about Shivansh. Quickly, he leaped from his bed and hurried to Shivansh's side.
"Hey, dude! Wake up." He softly touched his legs and gave a mild shake. Shivansh stirred in his sleep and muttered sleepily.
"You had asked me to wake you up at dawn." Hasan reminded him. Unwillingly, Shivansh sat up yawning, and stretched his arms.
"Thanks, yaar. I have to bathe and do my prayer." Shivansh smiled at him. Hasan patted his shoulder and urged him to start the day.
