At the reception, there was gossip about the bride's brother being missing. Though everyone was confused Anaisha knew where he might be. She felt guilty when Minal blamed herself.
"I shouldn't have argued with him." She expressed her remorse. Anaisha held her shoulders and consoled her.
Anahita Devi was seething with anger, internally. She kept asking Aryaman to call his son. He was frustrated because Abhinav wasn't answering the call.
"Where could your brother be? Aren't you worried?" Hasan murmured to Anaisha, as they stood on the stage, greeting mostly strangers.
Anaisha breathed, adjusting her red zari work saree, - "I know where he is. With his mistress." She doesn't look at Hasan but felt him stiffened.
"Are you sure? On your reception."
Anaisha turned her head and looked at him, - "Men are shameless creatures."
Hasan's expressions changed. She looked away at the guests.
"Not everyone."
"Really? Zahir? Abhinav? My dad and—"
"Priyank." Hasan countered her and Anaisha realized.
"If you have bad examples, then you have good ones too." He gestured at the front where Priyank was getting chaat for his angrez wife. Anaisha smiled a little, watching them feed each other. Then, a soft touch on her hand solaced her. She turned to look at Hasan.
"Your brother has gotten astray and we as a family must guide him. Forgive him and—"
"I told you, there is no place for forgiveness in case of infidelity." Anaisha was stern again.
Hasan nodded, squeezing her hand, - "Okay! But at least we should support Minal, right?"
Anaisha nodded firmly. She was now planning to expose Abhinav in front of everyone. Once this shaadi-tamasha got over.
Though he wasn't present in his brother's wedding. Khalil made a point to come to the reception. This raised Anahita Devi's BP. She told everyone that the boy was Hridhaan's student. Anaisha met Khalil for the first time and was happy to know that his behavior was similar to Hasan's. He too was impressed by his sister-in-law. When she extended her hand for a shake, he politely refused and folded his palms instead. Anaisha snapped her head towards Hasan, who had straightened in his seat and grinned back at her. A glint of pride in his eyes.
"Even I wasn't this strict in college." He whispered to her. Anaisha simply nodded.
Abhinav doesn't return even at dinner. Minal was drowning herself in guilt and her mother added fuel to her misery by taunting her. Anaisha was saddened by this. Here there is Sehrish who isn't independent and not much educated, then there is Minal highly educated and independent, both the women are on the same boat. Like Sehrish, Minal's parents weren't supporting her either.
