Jin collapsed into his office chair and sighed a breath of frustration. With his best chef calling out sick and already being down one waiter, the packed restaurant felt impossible to maintain.
Finally, after six straight hours of nonstop work, cooking and problem solving, the floor had finally calmed down enough for everyone to take a breath.
"Sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice in taking on this job." He groaned to himself, attempting to rub the exhaustion from his eyes and use his ten-minute break to effectively recharge.
"If you hadn't, you'd still be skipping meals and Kook wouldn't be attending college right now." Came a soft voice from the doorway, gaining his attention.
Sitting up, Jin smiled weakly and ushered his girlfriend to come closer. "When did you get here?" He asked, pulling at her arm and forcing her to sit in his lap. "It's your night off. You should be home resting or out with friends."
Seo wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a soft kiss on his hair. "I guess that confirms you were too distracted with everything going on to notice me bussing tables for the last hour." She giggled, running her fingers along his scalp the way he loved. "But regarding your earlier question, you made the right choice. If you had turned down the opportunity to run this place, you'd still be working two jobs at minimum wage for some douche and Kook would have nothing better to do with his time than practice the art of procreation."
"Exaggerating much?"
"Oh please. You know I'm right."
He knew she was right. She was always right.
"I don't know what I'd do without you." He sighed, allowing his head to lull against her chest as his arms tightened around her waist.
"You'd be fucked, that's for sure." She responded cheerfully. "Remember that time Kook came home with a dog and thought he could keep it hidden in his closet?"
Jin snorted at the memory, finding it rather funny years later. "I still don't understand how you talked that mea old lady out of pressing charges."
"She sympathized with me for having to deal with two idiots. I saved your ass more times than I can count."
"And I appreciate that," Jin replied, looking up at her through his lashes. "I appreciate you more than anything."
Their lips brushed together in a soft kiss, the many years of friendship that lead to this moment reminding Jin of every little detail he loved most about her.
After years of watching her navigate through heartbreak and being too scared of losing her to speak on his true feelings, he finally had her in his arms the way he had always dreamt of. She was his to love and hold, her warmth exceeding his every expectation.
Since the age of fourteen, Jin knew he had to have her by his side no matter the title of their relationship. But to be able to call her his girlfriend sent sparks flying through his body.
He had lucked out, that's for sure.
"Have you decided where you guys are going yet?" Seo questioned, tucking her head into the crook of his neck and closing her eyes.
"Kook was adamant about going to the beach so we settled for Gangneung. There's also a restaurant location I want to check out for expanding. Jeonghan is very persistent about working with me, so I think I'll take him up on his offer and finally work on opening another location."
"That's good to hear." Seo kissed his neck as her fingers slid to the base of his skull. "We can adjust the hours in the morning to accommodate the staff while you're gone. Open at ten and close at nine. I think the guys would like that."
