Author Note:
This chapter is the first of seven bonus chapters (each member getting one) that will be featured in this book. Please note the bonus chapters are flashbacks explaining a vital/life changing moment of the members past that pertains to the previous chapter. This one in particular explains who YeonLee is and their importance to not only Taehyung but the charges against his father.
Trigger warning for physical abuse and murder. If you feel the need to skip at any time, I fully understand and have left a breif explaination in the Author Note at the end of the chapter so you don't miss any vital information.
I love you guys.
Shrilling screams rebounded through the large open space as Taehyung fought off the continuous assault of water invading his line of view with each splash.
The public pool had been closed down earlier that week due to the fall weather making an appearance earlier than expected. Although the sun was already setting, casting a chilling shadow over the watered area, the thrill of getting to swim and be away from home was something Taehyung loved more than anything.
As the viscous water ceased, Taehyung wiped his face and giggled, his eyes searching the surface for the source of his earlier entertainment. Spotting her dark hair in the shallow end, he swam to her side, pouting as she appeared to be getting out of the water.
"Why are you getting out?" He asked, forcing his long and untamed hair out of his face so he could see her better.
"It's time to head home." She replied, grabbing a towel off the ground and attempting to dry her body off. "We've been out here for the past two hours. Dad's already going to be mad. I don't want to make matters worse by staying out any later."
Knowing his sister was right but not wanting to leave behind his happiness just yet, Taehyung sank below the surface of the water one last time, basking in the freedom the swimming pool was to him.
Earlier that summer when the pool first opened back up, he had set a goal to be able to hold his breath underwater for two whole minutes. Now that the leaves were finally falling and the gates had been locked, he had one last chance to reach that goal.
After counting in his mind and feeling the pressure expand in his head, Taehyung sprung from the water, laughing with excitement that he had finally reached his biggest dream.
The celebration was short-lived once his eyes regained their sight and fell upon two figures by the edge of the pool. Fear engulfing him, Taehyung quickly pushed through the water until he had reached the steps and exited the pool. Ignoring the 'no running' rules lifeguards had imprinted in his mind for years, he rushed to his sister's side and dropped his chin to his chest as he stood beside her.
"You kids think you can just disobey me like this?" The old man spat, baring his crooked teeth in a sneer.
"No-no sir." Taehyung replied, shaking with a mixture of both fear and frostbite.
After a long silence, the sound of his father's shoes scraping against the cement forced Tae's eyes to look up as he watched the older man step closer to his sister, her face void of emotion as she stood tall.
"And what about you, you little bitch?" The old man asked, grabbing a fistful of her hair and forcefully pulling her closer. "Don't stand here and act like you are innocent."
"YeonLee had nothing to do with it!" Taehyung shouted, stepping closer to the two as he stood up for his sister. "I begged her to bring me!"
"Taehyung, go dry off before you catch a cold." YeonLee remarked, her eyes glued to their father who held his firm grip of her hair.
