19. Lie

Although it was a complete lie, Jimin would never consider himself the jealous type. He never expected his hookups to last more than a night and dropped flings once they began to want more than just sex from him. If someone he was seeing grew tired of him or found someone else, he would brush it off and accept the change.

Not to mention clients who wished for dates and relationships would no longer expect to pay for his time as services. His career solely relied on his ability to ignore feelings and carry on as if nothing had happened. Married men would not pay the amounts of money they did if they feared he would lash out and inform their wives of their time spent together. If he passed clients on the street, he would act as if they had never met. Remaining unattached and distant was his instinct when meeting someone new.

But as he held his phone in his hand and stared at the Instagram profile he had suddenly been recommended to follow, he couldn't help the rapid beating of his heart, his eyes locked on the one person who had finally gotten under his tough skin.

It was no shock to see that Jungkook followed him. Jimin hadn't seen the notification from when it happened, but it made sense. He rarely paid any attention to the stupid notifications that flooded in, the majority of them being spam or degrading comments he refused to give attention to. Followers and comments were just a bunch of strangers he would never meet, so acknowledging their creative and painstakingly thought-out usernames was a waste of time.

Scrolling through the younger boy's feed made his heart tighten with pain, as he noticed the obvious change in the younger boys' demeanor following their fallout. What once used to be a happy page, the black and white aesthetic never once dulling Jungkook's smile, was now overrun by a new, dark emotion. The most recent images practically screamed misery, a change Jimin wouldn't particularly notice if he had been scrolling through any other random page.

Even Jungkook's tagged photos gave off a different vibe. Some bitch by the name Milly had tagged him in a photo a few weeks prior, the caption containing a black heart before calling the younger boy out for not being as much fun as he used to be.

Jimin clicked on another tagged photo, snarling to find the same girl had tagged him just two days before their split, the caption containing nothing but heart eyes.

"Mind if I borrow your deodorant?"

Jimin clicked on the girl's profile, scoffing at the obviously staged photos she had chosen for her layout in an attempt to appear relevant.

"Jimin?"

Pathetic, Jimin thought, scrolling through the unknown girl's profile, pausing only for a brief moment when anyone who possibly resembled Jungkook appeared.

"Jimin!"

Jimin suddenly jolted as a foreign weight sprawled across his lap, trapping his legs against the mattress. Looking up, Jimin made eye contact with the man he had met only a few weeks ago at the gym, his hair damp and dripping onto the comforter.

"What?" Jimin snapped, looking back to his phone as he found his way back to Jungkooks page.

"I asked if I could borrow your deodorant." The man asked, climbing off the bed and gathering his clothes off the ground, a gray towel wrapped snugly around his hips.

"Yeah, sure," Jimin mumbled, waving him off as he clicked back to his home page. Another sound came from the man, but Jimin had already forgotten his presence, his eyes now focused on a post Namjoon had added to his story showcasing his half-packed suitcase.

They were leaving in less than three hours.

The distant sound of his bedroom door opening and closing was enough to jolt Jimin from his thoughts. Locking his phone and dropping it onto the mattress, Jimin ran his fingers through his hair as a wave of emotions filled his head. His ego teased the idea of going on the trip just to prove to everyone how 'fine' he was with the breakup. But on the other hand, his heart knew the unwarranted truth.
