Jimin looked down at his phone to the text he had received only a few minutes ago and exhaled. After avoiding Jungkook for the last three hours, the offer to escape and blow off some steam was far too tempting. He needed something to distract from the unsettling churns his stomach had been making all night, Jungkook's presence stirring up unwanted thoughts and feelings he had unsuccessfully been avoiding since their split.
Looking back to the now scattered group, Jimin took notice of the lack of sobriety and attention to their surroundings. It would be far too easy for him to slip out the front door without anyone noticing, and since Hoseok had already made plans to crash at Yoongi's, there wouldn't be anyone home to give him shit for ditching the party or his reasons for doing so.
After contemplating his options, Jimin replied to the message and snatched his coat from the back of the couch. He was quick as he moved towards the front door and slipped out into the hallway, not a single glance or question following him as he left.
At least that's what he thought.
Jungkook pursed his lips and turned his gaze from the door to the damp rag in his hands, completely oblivious of his brother's attempt at handing him a freshly washed dish. "Maybe Tae should stay with Jimin instead of us." He grumbled to himself, completely unaware his words had been spoken out loud, let alone heard.
"Why do you think that?" Jin asked, nudging his brother with the dish again to get his attention.
Collecting the plate and turning back to the counter, Jungkook lazily dried the surface. "They've been friends a lot longer than Tae and me. Jimin seemed to miss him a lot too and Tae might feel more comfortable with someone he knows better. I didn't even ask Tae where he wanted to live and just decided for him."
"You did what any good friend would do, Kook. I'm sure if he wants to stay with Jimin, he will." Jin assured as he pulled the plug in the sink and let the water drain.
Jungkook nodded to his brother's words as he tossed the rag onto the counter and faked an awkward smile. "I'll ask him about it tomorrow."
"Good. Now do me a favor and help me carry this stuff to the car." Jin remarked, stacking the dishware and forcefully handing it to Jungkook. "I need to finish packing and I'm sure Yoongi wants us out of here so he can get some sleep."
"You got that right," Yoongi replied, yawning as he entered from his bedroom, already changed into his pajamas. "If you expect me to make it to the train on time, I need to get to bed in the next twenty seconds."
Jungkook nodded as he quickly followed Jin to the front door. "Where's Tae?" He asked, looking around the room for a sign of the older boy.
"He headed to the convenience store to get some things before we leave tomorrow," Jin informed, pausing at the door to adjust the dishes in his own hands before pulling the knob. "He's going to stay here tonight and ride with the others in the morning"
Jungkook's eyes widened as the front door opened, surprised to find a petite dark-haired girl standing in the doorway, her eyes equally as shocked from the sudden answer of the door before she had the chance to knock.
"Sorry. Did I get the wrong apartment?" She questioned, her hands dropping to the strap that crossed her chest.
Before Jungkook could respond, Yoongi jumped forward, practically causing Jin to stumble by the force of his appearance. "Dae? What are you doing here so late?"
"I just finished up a gig two blocks over and thought I'd swing by before you left in the morning." She explained, motioning to the guitar case on her back. "Is this a bad time?"
