Edward's standing there, hands holding a dismembered calf and thigh, possibly looking ridiculous. This was his job, one of his many jobs.  He'd chosen it meticulously. It seemed smart enough at the time. No one questions when a child follows in their parent's footsteps. Being able to be around blood whether it was pumping through a live body or being drained from a dead one was a helpful skill to have. With blood surrounding him, it almost became like a slightly muffled sound or an itch he's rubbed cream on. The distractions sort of faded into the background and he was, somehow, finally able to focus. It was the perfect job for someone as imperfect as he was.

However, as he lowered the appendages down to the metal table and removed his gloves, he was suddenly aware that he wasn't as focused as he'd thought himself to be. He rinsed his hands under the water, taking his time with the soap and hoping that Emmett was behaving himself. Based on what he was thinking, Edward wasn't going to hold his breath.

He dried his hands slowly, and eventually, turned to the detective with what he hoped to be somewhat of a cordial smile. He made sure to get out of the room first. He didn't need Emmett's catcalls.

"Yes, Detective?"

"I wanted to ask you about the teeth and the bite from the Jane Doe case. They both have very similar sets of teeth, which is very rare -"

"Unless they're siblings." Edward provides and tries not to look to put-off by the look he gets from the Detective.

This was a dangerous case. A case that Edward was hoping would go cold very quickly. It put him and his entire team at risk, but if he suddenly excused himself or didn't cooperate, that'd be a giant red flag. Something about the look in Black's eyes told him that he would notice. He'd notice everything. He was like a dog catching a scent. Edward believed that the only reason that he hadn't gotten his cover blown so far is because the Detective seemed repulsed by them. Very different from being scared of them, he tended to stay away because he just didn't like them very much.

"Siblings who nibble on each other's necks?" He didn't seem very keen on the idea. His face, which was usually contorted around Edward, grew even more disturbed.

"Teens and young adults are weird." Edward points out to which he finally gets a sign of agreement out of Black in the form of a very stiff nod.

"Yeah." Is all he breathes out before turning on his heels and sauntering out of the door.

Back inside of the lab, he was met by wolf whistles, courtesy of Emmett.

"Stop. If we're not on our best behavior, this case is going to have us packing." He sighs out looking from the bloodless corpse to the Jane Doe.

Emmett didn't really seem put off by that as he wriggled his eyebrows.

"So, what did Detective have to say?" He has this mocking tone in his voice and Edward wants to stab him with a scalpel.

"He was asking about their teeth." Edward says pointedly.

That seems to get Jasper's attention as he quickly spins in his chair. Edward's happy to finally have someone who understands the magnitude of the situation. If they don't quickly wrap this up, Black might come snooping.

He patiently waits for Jasper to cosign him.

Emmett's laughter probably reaches the station as Jasper hands him yet another sketch of Black.

"Thanks, Jazz."

"They're related?" Jessica announces in confusion as she stares down at the report.
