sounds of weapons clashing together echoed through the forest, there stood two intimates who were in the middle of their last training session. the [h/c] haired mortal looked at their opponent, breathing heavily, a hand clutching on their polearm.

"i haven't even used 65% of my vision and you're already drained." the boy said, his amber eyes holds a hint of disappointment as he looks at his friend.

"i haven't reached your level yet, yaksha. besides, i didn't get enough sleep last night." [y/n] dropped their weapon and plopped down on the grass. "but i got better with this bad boy, right?" they smirked down at the well made polearm just for them to wield.

"there you go again with your excuses." xiao sighed with his arms crossed on his chest. "i guess." he hesitated.

[y/n] rolled their eyes at the adeptus' words. "you guess?" they responded with a mix of disbelief and amusement laced on their tone.

silence took over the two as they just stared at each other without any emotion plastering their faces.

"i've watched over you for years. you improved a lot [y/n] but-" the adeptus was cut off by the mortal chuckling softly. "you're gonna miss me so bad." [y/n] sent him a grin.

xiao only responded with a blink with no reaction at all, but they both knew deep inside, what the [h/c] haired said was undeniable.

"have you said your goodbyes to rex lapis?" the adeptus eyed the individual. they responded with a nod. the silence between the two grew thicker.

"are you sure about this, [y/n]?" he walked towards his comrade and sat down beside them.

"i am, xiao. i can't just live under the adepti's care forever." they eyed the yaksha. oh how they're going to miss the conqueror of demon's etherealness.

"i also want to explore teyvat like how i've always dreamed of and now that i have found an opportunity to do so, i can't just let it slip." [y/n] added.

xiao stared at the stars twinkling above them in silence. "ok." he finally answered, bluntly.

[y/n] looked at xiao with a deadpanned expression, the yaksha that they look up to, the adeptus who would always rescue them at any time and situation. the boy who they would view as a big brother anyone would die for.

"ok. hope you realize how stupid your intentions are and regret it and stay here in liyue for the rest of your life." [y/n] being the annoying person they are, mocked xiao's voice with a straight face.

xiao looked at them in confusion. "that's literally how you sound like." the mortal laughed at the yaksha's expression.

the young adeptus finally realized that he was being mocked and his facial expression twisted into an offensively annoyed one. "drown." he responded.

[y/n] hollered a laugh.

as their laughs died down, [y/n] stood up from the ground, picking up their weapon in the process. "i have to get going now, i haven't packed my things yet."

[y/n] held a hand out to xiao to help him stand up, he hesitantly took it and pulled the mortal for a platonic hug.

the [h/c] haired was a little taken back by the action for they have never gotten this kind of affection from the adeptus.

"take care."

[y/n] smiled over his shoulder and hugged back.

"i will."

[y/n]'s eyes shot open, their body uncomfortably stiff on the matress. they finally softened and slowly sat up their bed. as they wait for their consciousness to fully take over, the door suddenly slammed open.

"HEY SWEETHEART!"

"you ready-? oh wow you're bringing less bags than i thought." the captain sat down beside the sleepy figure.

[y/n] jumped out of bed in excitement when they finally realized. "oh my archons, thankfully i didn't over slept." they hurriedly made their way to the bathroom while the eye-patched female examined the polearm beside the bed.

"relaaax, it's not like i would leave without you!" beidou chuckled while spinning the spear around before placing it down to where it was. "i'll wait for you outside!" she made her way outside the door.

"i'm giving you like 10 minutes before i only take your bags to travelling instead." beidou added.

"that..horribly attractive woman." [y/n] hesitated, they couldn't think of an insult for someone as admirable as the captain.
