Secrets

As the week went by, Rick and Negan spent every night on the phone, talking until they couldn't keep their eyes open. They grew unbelievably close in such a short amount of time, talking about anything and everything.

"I'm seeing you tomorrow, right?" Negan asked, trying to be patient until then. "Yeah, Shane and I are gonna go out for dinner after work. You can come with us." Rick stated, not seeing a problem with it. Negan thought about it for a moment, "Are you sure? I don't want to intrude." Negan didn't want to ask, but he felt like he needed to.

"I want you to come, asshole." Rick scoffed sarcastically. "Hey! You're gonna regret calling me that, you prick." Negan retorted, "But fine, I'll come." He sighed. Rick raised a brow to himself, "Good...cause you didn't have a choice." Rick said slowly in a more serious tone than he expected. Did I actually say that? He was taken back by his own comment.

Negans heart fluttered to that. He slid his tongue over his lips, smirking. "Oh really?" Negan intrigued. He sure is getting bold...I like it. Rick felt the embarrassment rising in him, unsure of what to say. He felt some sort of tension between them, even through the phone. Rick smirked lightly, "Ok...maybe you did but whatever." He couldn't help his soft side from showing, which broke the tension.

Negan laughed at Rick, "Couldn't keep the act up, could you?" Rick could hear Negans smirk through his words, causing his heart rate to increase. "Yeah, yeah." Rick rolled his eyes, smiling. "Negan, I need to go to sleep. I could listen to you talk all day, but i'm exhausted." Rick admitted, which made Negan smile. "Ok, Rick. Sleep well." Negan said softly, adding "Goodnight, blue eyes" "Goodnight, asshole" Rick responded and hung up the phone quickly, laughing, before Negan could speak again.

Not even 10 seconds later, Negan texted Rick, "Fuck you, prick" which made Rick laugh again as his cheeks started to hurt. He took a moment, thinking of what to respond. He typed "Maybe" but hesitated to send it. What is going on with me today? I've never been this bold with anyone.

Deciding to not send the text, Rick thought he hit the backspace button, but actually hit send, since the two buttons were so close to each other. Ricks heart dropped as he saw what he did, worry and embarrassment immediately running through him. "Shit!" Rick said loudly, wishing he could somehow delete the text. Of course I fucked this up.

Negan couldn't believe his eyes, did Rick really just say that? He seemed to be uncovering another side of Rick, that possibly hasn't been shown in years...or ever. Negan felt his face heat up as he was processing the text. "I didn't mean it like that, but don't threaten me with a fun time." A smirk covered Negans face as he sent the text.

Ok maybe I didn't fuck this up, Rick thought after reading Negans response. He was at a loss of words, completely giving up at thinking of how to respond. He turned his phone off, deciding to just leave Negan on read and go to sleep.

Negan saw that Rick hadn't responded after a few minutes now, he must've gotten too shy to. Negan reassured himself, trying not to worry as he slowly fell asleep.

After what felt like a whole 24 hours of working, Rick finally clocked out, making his way to his car to get a change of clothes. He quickly ran into the station to get dressed and came back out to his car. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and opened up his texts with Negan, staring at the texts from last night, smirking at them. "I'm coming to pick you up, be ready." Rick typed, pressing send as Shane walked up to him.

He lifted his eyes up to Shane, "I'm gonna go get Negan, I'll meet you at the restaurant." He told Shane, who raised a brow in confusion. "Oh, he's coming?" "Yeah, I was supposed to see him today but since we're going for dinner I figured I'd invite him." Rick replied casually to Shane, who still looked confused. "Ok" He scoffed, adding "I'll meet you there" Before he walked away to his car.
