Chapter 23

Arisus pov

"Kichi you're 13 please settle down!" I shout out to him. Chiyo and him didn't seem to hear me due to their loud screaming and I sat down on a very soft couch. I look over to Illumi who was just staring at me. I smile at him and stare back. 

"Has anyone ever told you how pretty your eyes ar-" 

"Anyways, Arisu let's begin the lesson for today. I want you to practice this once you're healed enough. Listen up because I will only be explaining this once." I sit straight and lean forward to get a better understanding. 

"First, given your condition, I will teach you Ko but for that, we must go over this first..." Illumi brings out a piece of paper and he stands up to walk towards me.

 Is it possible for your brain to feel fried? If so that's currently how I'm feeling. Illumi had me practice whilr he taught me and I about passed out before I finally got the hang of it. 

"You did an excellent job," Illumi said as he stood. "Please continue practicing at least 5 hours a day, also do me a favor and try to be as honest as you can with me." 

I nodded and thought for a second. "In that case, I really like your hair today!" I smile up at him. This catches both him and me off guard and I feel him lower himself to my height. Which isn't too low since I'm 5'6.

"Are you sure you're feeling alright?" He asks. I feel my cheeks heat up and I shake my head. 

"Yes, I feel perfectly fine." I let him know. He stares at me again before he looks away and I look down at my hands. If I'm honest, I don't know how I feel. I mean I feel the usual hellish cloud that I've been feeling for years over me but for some reason now there's this grey area that I can't seem to pinpoint. It's like during certain times the cloud looming over me dissolves and light shines through, even if it's only for a few seconds. 

"I'll see you in a few days then." He lets me know and I walk away. Once he's gone I make my way to my luggage and bring out a clean bandage to change my old one with. I turn around and begin looking for the restroom until I notice the kids are being a little bit too quiet. I let out a sigh and slowly put the bandage on the counter before I begin walking around. I surround myself with my aura and slowly creep behind an open door. I look in and see the kids sitting criss-cross while looking up at a large screen. Is that a theatre? What the hell, this is too good to be true. I begin making my way up to the kids before I realize somebody else is in here. 

"Are these yours?~" I hear a familiar voice say. In the blink of an eye, I see the clown, I mean the magician sitting in front of me. He's pointing at my siblings and holding an innocent close-eyed smile. 

"H-how did you get in here?" I ask. Hisoka opens his eyes and lowers his finger. He bounces his leg and I notice the kids aren't even paying attention to us. Crossing my arms I narrow my eyes at the magician and wait for a reply. 

"Well, I heard Illumi acquired himself a new accomplice~ I didn't think it was going to be you though, arisu." He gave me a mock smile at the end of his sentence and I wanted to punch him but I knew if I did this lunatic would do... something that I wouldn't like. 

"So what? Are you trying to say the three of us will be working together from now on?" I ask him. Hisoka doesn't answer for a long minute and I notice he's paying attention to the movie the kids are watching instead of listening to me. 

"Do you know what you're going to make your ability?" He finally speaks but doesn't answer my question. What does he mean by ability? 

"I asked first." I push and he hums. 

"Well I'm awfully busy but if the job is worth my time then I suppose I can spare some time." He replies with humor behind his voice. I look up at the screen where the movie is playing and see a bunny falling into a wormhole. 

"Your ability, what do you suppose you're going to make it?" Hisoka asks me again, I turn my attention back to him and cock my head at him. 

"What do you mean by ability?" I ask him. He raises a brow at me and frowns. 

"You mean to tell me that you've had 2 months to learn and you still don't know your nen type?" He slowly shakes his head as he stands up. I suddenly feel him behind me and I turn around quickly but see no one, I turn back around and see him sitting there with a smile across his face. 

"You're a sharp one, aren't you?" He purrs. Is it even possible for someone to move that quick?

"What's your ability?" I ask Hisoka. I suddenly feel myself being pulled towards him and I attempt to hold myself back but my efforts were useless as I felt myself fall face-first into a pillow beneath me. Where did this pillow come from? I hear Hisoka chuckle from above me and I look up to see him holding a card to cover his laugh. 

"My ability is called bungee gum, it contains the properties of both rubber and gum so as you can see, it's very helpful for many things." I stand up and see my siblings looking back at us with a smile on their faces, did they know he was here the whole time? Did they...

"Oh don't look so upset, it's all for jokes." He smirks. I check to see if my wound didn't open back up and soon realize that this is the longest conversation I've had with Hisoka without him trying to kill me. 

"You still haven't answered my question, how did you get in here?" I asked him. 

"hmm? well, I knocked and your kids let me in" He said, I narrow my eyes at him then look back at the children, I thought they were smarter than to let a stranger into the house. 

"First of all, those are my siblings, and second of all can you leave? I have business to attend to." 

"Well, I'll be making my way then, next time we meet I hope to see your ability." He gives me a smirk and makes his way past me.  When I turn around to see him leave I notice that he's nowhere to be seen. I try to walk behind him to make sure he's actually gone but I don't feel his presence anywhere so I make my way back to where the kids are and get in front of them. 

Grabbing a piece of paper I roll it and hit the top of their heads. They both squeal beneath me but yet hold a smile on their faces. 

"You think this is funny?" I try to keep a serious face but a smile threatens to break loose on my face too. "No seriously! You two are children, letting a random man into the house isn't safe and you two know that so why did you let him come in here?" 

"He told us he was a friend of Illumi's and he showed us some cool tricks while he waited for you to finish chatting with him," Chiyo told me, I hit the top of Kichi's head and looked up at the ceiling. I'll admit he didn't lie but Hisoka is still a dangerous person... I think. 

"mmmmgo take a shower, both of you!" I let a smile spread across my face and they both jump up to start running.
