I never thought I'd be going back to Elements Collide, but here we go nonetheless.

Outskirts of Warfang

Just outside the dragon city, in the shade on a grassy plain, Spyro stood with his old friend Sparx. Spyro placed a mysterious book on the ground in front of him and started to read it thoroughly.

"There must be something." Spyro whispered to himself, flipping a page. "Surely not every spell is evil in a way."
Sparx folded his arms. "It's necromancy pal, if I was in your position I would've given up by now."
Spyro scoffed. "Well I'm not giving up."
Most of the spells in the book they'd seen so far consisted of mind tricks and memory scrambling spells. That's the last thing they wanted at this minute.

He looked over a few more pages before finally finding what he was looking for. "Okay Sparx, this book has the perfect spell!" He exclaimed.
"Oh, guess I was wrong." He zipped over next to Spyro and looked at the page. "What does it say?"
Spyro pointed at the spell. "It says that whatever I think about upon casting the spell is affected."
"Hm, okay. And this spell can switch your friends back?"
Spyro nodded. "Yep. And um, our friends, Sparx."
"Eh..." Sparx shook his head in disapproval. "Whatever. Well, see if you can say it."

They both looked closer at the spell itself. The book's spells were showcased exclusively in Greek, so it was a bit more difficult to pronounce.
Nevertheless, Spyro wanted to try, so he examined the words and gave it a try.

Before he could say anything however, Spyro felt a sudden surge of energy flow inside him. In pain, the purple dragon held his chest and slowly fell to the ground, still grunting due to how much it hurt.
"Uh, Spyro? What's happening, are you good?" Sparx said anxiously. "You're not having another passing out moment, are you?"
Dark clouds started to emerge from Spyro's very body, and started to accumulate in front of him, creating what looked to be a living creature.

He looked up. "What's happening?" Spyro said, noticing the figure before him: An exact replica of himself, but covered from top to bottom in darkened scales, and silver accents. "What is this?"
The dark dragon quickly took off into the sky and out of sight.
"What's what?" Sparx looked in the direction Spyro was facing, but saw nothing.
Spyro felt the pain ease, and started to stand again. "Nothing Sparx."
His friend looked at him confused. "Okay..." He responded. "You need to stop doing these things."

Flying in place above Warfang it scouted the area, seeking what had extracted it from inside Spyro. It glided down to where Thanatos was, whom was going in Spyro's general direction. The dark dragon stood in front of his summoner.
"It worked..." Thanatos said, proceeding to laugh. "You will make an excellent addition to my forces, now that you are not bound to your vessel." The entity simply nodded.

Thanatos looked out towards the dragon temple, burning in furious flames. "I need you to remain in Warfang, and no matter what, do not let anybody see you."
With no further words, Dark Spyro nodded once again and blasted upwards into the sky and flew away from the city.

The shadowed entity took to the waterfall just outside the gates. It landed just next to it, and walking into it. Behind the waterfall was an entrance to a winding cave, the walls covered in a dull purple colour, as well as spots of cyan and orange gel-like substances within it. The water that flowed into the cave slowly turned purple as it travelled further in too.

Here is where Dark Spyro hid away. Not a single soul knew his location; they only knew where the real Spyro was.

12 years later
Warfang, Dragon Temple

Dark Spyro, not physically changed since Thanatos' attack, creeped around the forest that surrounded the small walls of the courtyard and stepped onto a small hill. From where he stood he looked into the courtyard and noticed three dragons not far from his size.

From where he stood, it was difficult to hear what they were saying. The purple child seemed quite excited for whatever reason, whilst the black and purple one looked to be becoming the exact opposite.
It was then that the black and purple dragon looked into Dark Spyro's direction, and he immediately froze. He simply stared back and waited.

Dark Spyro heard the little grey and blue one speak to the one staring at him, and he looked to his friend. The entity took this opportunity to slip away and out of sight. Peeking from behind the walls of the courtyard, Dark Spyro watched as Dante became confused at what he just saw, but shrugged it off.

The dark dragon figured it would be best for him to stay hidden for now.

However, the next day, he approached the Dragon Temple once again. The entity looked up to the sky above it, and saw a yellow and blue dragon land on the roof, carefully looking through and inspecting the inside.
Dark Spyro started to ascend the walls of the Dragon Temple, flying up to where he saw the mysterious creature, making sure to land softly in front of him.

The yellow dragon immediately stepped back and spread his wings. "Who are you?" Kyrasklis asked, ready to defend himself.
"Wait, leave him." A neon grey dragoness faded into existence next to Kyrasklis, putting her hand over his left wing. "He's not exactly pure like the rest."
Dark Spyro stood in place, completely mute. His expression, however, clearly showed he was confused.

Spectre walked up slowly. "Did you have any association with Thanatos, over a decade ago?" She asked. The reply she got was a simple nod. "You'll want to come with us then, we are preparing for the Cleansing."
"First though, we need this large group of dragons separated." Kyrasklis added. "Spectre?"

Spectre looked back down into the Main Hall and noticed every single dragon sitting in there. Once seeing this, she vanished and flew away.
From the roof of the Temple, Dark Spyro looked down with Kyrasklis. They witnessed as Spectre opened the Temple doors, let the cold air drift in and begin tapping her claws on the floor.
This left all of the dragons stood concerned.

A vortex appeared in front of the large group and the spectral arm lunged out, grabbing the three children. Instantly, every dragon besides Ignitus flew into the vortex and it vanished right after.
Spectre materialised in front of Kyrasklis. "And just like that, they've been scattered throughout the Elemental Realms." She chuckled sinisterly. "Let's go, Kyrasklis. You coming?"
Dark Spyro grinned and took off with them, on a trip to the Nether Realm.

The Nether Realm

Kyrasklis landed just outside the entrance alongside Spectre and the darkened entity, and stepped in.
They all walked into the Throne Room. In here, most of the dark dragons were already gathered, planning their next move. The second Erebus and Nyx saw the dark entity in the room however, they both sprung backwards and readied their claws.
"Why are you here!?" Erebus shouted out.
Kyrasklis stood in front of them. "Relax, it's not actually Spyro." He looked behind him. "It's his dark half."
They all stood somewhat confused, Nyx in particular. "What caused the light and dark personalities to separate?" She asked.
"It must've been your father." Dryden said. He looked to Dark Spyro. "You'll be useful. Come with me."

Thunder kept his gaze upon Spyro's dark counterpart as both he and Dryden left the hall. The amount of dragons within the castle with the same intentions baffled him on several levels.
"Just how many people want that purple dragon dead?" he thought to himself. "Whatever that dragon has done must be equivalent to that of treason if the desire to kill him is this common." Thunder simply shook off any thoughts that came to him. His mind was full enough as it was.

Two Spyros. Exactly what we needed.
I don't see future events ending too well.
