Dragon Temple, Early Dawn
Spyro opened his eyes to the bright rising Sun shining through the Temple glass. He brought himself to his feet before exiting the room and heading down towards the Main Hall.
He was told to go there yesterday night, as an important meeting had to take place. Now would have been a good time to say goodbye.Upon approaching the Pool of Visions, Spyro was greeted with both Cynder and Lilith standing by Ignitus himself, as well as the other elder guardians.
One look at Cynder's face told Spyro that something was wrong. "There's a dark dragon on the loose... isn't there?" he asked Ignitus, responding with a hopeless nod. "Lilith, could you please get the others?"
"Will do." She bolted off instantly, knowing very well that there was danger ahead of her parents. It wasn't long before Lilith had gotten every single dragon inside the Temple within the Main Hall, Isaboki's group included.
"As much as I dread bringing you all this news: Another dark scheme is rising." His every word came out with regret.
Isaboki grew angry. "What has this dragon done?"
Ignitus sighed. "Dragons from across town have been going missing, and never coming back. The culprit has remained hidden from my vision.""But it's been over a decade! How could another threat be on the way?" Ouranos asked, refusing to believe Ignitus.
Volteer stepped forward. "Ignitus claims that this dragon was corrupted, and they're not willingly doing it."
"That's impossible. The only thing that can corrupt a dragon is another dark dragon." Cynder started. "If what Ignitus is saying is true, then there's more than one of them this time."Everybody stood in silence. 12 years ago, they'd dealt with this kind of situation, but now it was happening again.
"But... what about the young ones?" Soranu asked, concerned for them.
Spyro looked their way. "Kids, you can't come with us."
"I don't want you to go!" Lilith replied.
Cynder shook her head. "We have to. You'll have to stay here.""We can help you. We all have powers here, right?" Arkhalis asked her.
"You're not ready yet, Arkhalis. You and the others won't be able to help." said Ruby.
Arkhalis took a step closer. "I can, watch."
She turned towards a cracked brick within the ground, concentrating as she attempted to use an ability on it. She stood persistent for a few moments.
"I'm sorry, but you can't-"
Arkhalis' horns began to glow a bright pink, and the tile began to shift upwards, defying all laws of gravity. She pulled it towards her, holding it in her hands.
She turned back to her mother. "I can."Not only was everyone shocked at her sudden stunt, but also amazed and astonished.
Spyro thought for a moment. "It'll still be dangerous for you Arkhalis. You know that we would never bring you into danger."
Arkhalis sighed in disappointment after hearing this. "Okay..."
"Don't get upset Ark. Dante and I will still be here!" Lilith responded, giving her a look of hope.
"Alright. Please just be safe." she begged her parents. Both Ouranos and Ruby nodded to her."Now listen closely, I'll-" Ignitus was interrupted by a cold breeze flowing into the room, followed by an unsettling breathing sound. It echoed throughout the Temple Hall.
"What was that?" Lilith asked in fright, hiding behind Dante.
Spyro signalled them to stay calm. "I don't know."A whisper was sent out, a sly tap of a claw was heard. An echoing voice called out "Ki ki ki..." repetitively, sounding almost ghost-like.
"Everyone stay close to me." Spyro ordered.
A small harmless vortex materialised before him, a few metres away, swirling slowly. With no warning, a large spectral arm lunged forwards and grabbed hold of the three young dragons, pulling them in at great speed and into the vortex, making them disappear entirely.
"No!" everybody shouted, as every single one of them except the guardians jumped in after them.
The portal vanished.
