The energy tingled at your fingers, wishing to destroy everything around you as you stared down at the bodies that had piled down on the floor. You never wanted this day to go this way. You didn't wish to use those powers. Yet the idea of them wanting to harm your niece Hope made you sick to the stomach.

"(Y/N) love, you have to calm down." Rebekah's voice was soothing, which contrasted the unease that grew inside your body. "I want you to breathe deeply and relax."

Your attempts to breathe and control your powers were interrupted by a booming voice, as the two people you didn't want to learn about them just yet walked inside the room.
"What she has to do is tell us what on earth was that?"

You would think that vampire instincts would have eliminated the element of surprise, yet Klaus and Elijah walked in without being noticed.

"Hello, Klaus" you greeted, forcing your powers to dim away from your fingertips. "I believe that it is not time for formalities." Was Klaus's simple response as he got close to you.

"Now will you tell me what the hell we just saw?" You sighed at how he faced you as if you were a threat, yet your back stood straight refusing to be intimated.

"I don't know." You knew he wouldn't be satisfied with that answer, yet it was the only one that you could offer him. Those powers weren't a part of you as a mortal, or even for the most time you had been a vampire. So when they appeared in a moment of great peril, it had been a great surprise.

"You don't know..." Klaus repeated as he got close to you and your body couldn't help but tense.

"No, I don't" You confirmed. "I don't know if I always had them or if I got them after my death."

"Give me or reason not to compel you." The strange power tingled at your fingertips, eager to be used as you felt your temper rise. A sigh left you, disappointed by how distrustful Klaus was being and your lack of control.

"Because I am not your enemy. I am your brother's wife and I wouldn't do anything to hurt our family." Your voice was steady, despite being at the receiving end of an uncomfortable stare. A hand pushed at Klaus's chest as Elijah put some distance between the two of you.

"I am afraid that (Y/N) is right, brother. She is not here to get interrogated. " Elijah's voice had always managed to calm you down. "After all, she is our family, and she used her power to protect your daughter. I believe that this stands as enough proof."

"You have to relax, Klaus." Rebekah joined in. "Not everyone is conspiring against you."

"How come you are not freaked out?" he questioned his sister, but she didn't have a chance to respond when you opened your mouth.

"Because she was with me when those powers first appeared." You explained. " I asked her not to tell you guys anything. At least not until I knew how to control them."

"I think that this was a wild day for all of us. It would be best if we got some rest." Elijah's tone seemed as if there was no place for any further argument.

"We will continue this conversation tomorrow." Klaus conceded, yet the sour expression on his face left no doubt in your mind that he was not pleased.

You had never felt so inclined to break the silence that had formed inside of the car. You usually were just content with enjoying Elijah's company, but the sense of guilt was gnawing on your chest.

The red traffic light put any hope of arriving home to rest. The traffic was worse than usual as if the universe had the chances stacked against you.

"I want you to know that I am sorry for hiding this from you." You had caved, but the silence had started to feel suffocating.

"I know," Elijah reassured you, as he stared at the road ahead of him. "admittedly it doesn't feel great to know that my wife had been hiding such a thing from me. But I understand."

"I just don't know how to control them..." You felt the need to explain everything to him. "And I know it sounds silly, but I didn't know how you would react. I just didn't want to lose you."

"Now, that sounds silly indeed," he smirked as he finally looked at you. "there is nothing in the world that you could do or be, that would make you lose me. Besides..."

His eyes twinkled with mischief as he stared at you and you couldn't help but smile."I got to witness you using your powers and I got to say that you had never looked so beautiful. The way you commanded your power... you looked majestic"

"Really?" a giggle escaped your lips, but you couldn't seem to care.

"Really," he answered simply, his hand leaving the stirring wheel to find your upper thigh. "it left quite... the impression on me."

"Is that so?" your face heated up at his touch as your hand tried to cover his.

"Yes." you could feel the heat of his palm even through your jeans and that thought made the heat on your face more intense.

"Maybe we should hurry up and head home, Mr. Mikaelson." The light shone green and you broke eye contact. "I would love to know what kind of impression it left on you."

"You read my mind, Mrs. Mikaelson." Time inside of the car seemed to flow more slowly, due to another reason altogether.
