"Man, I wanna do something other than eating the whole fridge," Ash says.
"Ahh," Lou says and joins her hands together in a namaste position. "Thank god, he wants to do something else! Thank you, god, thank you!"
"You can say thank you so many times to god, but I don't remember even one time when you said thank you to me," Ash says.
"And that's because in the daytime I am tryna stop you from eating and in the nighttime, I am trying to make space for myself on the bed!" Lou says, crossing her arms.
"Ya ya fine. So...do we have anything to eat-"
"You say the word eat one more time and I'll eat you!" Lou says.
"But I am-"
"Let's go for a walk, it's evening, a perfect time!" Lou says while grabbing Ash's hand and dragging him out.
They both reach the park which was near to their house. It was full of harmony. Green trees, flowers of different colors, their scent perfuming the park. Children playing here and there, some making things in the sand, and other people and couples sitting on the benches, chatting.
"Sometimes you need to come out and get fresh air as well, it's good for your health!" Lou says.
Ash kept seeing here and there if he could find an empty bench. But no results.
"There are no empty benches, let's walk for a while, and then we can sit on one of them. I think at least one will be free till then." Ash says.
"Yup, but I hope we don't find any bugs here..." Lou says, looking around to see if any bug is there or not.
"There is nothing here, I guess/ And if at all something comes, I'll protect you!" Ash says.
"Aw thanks-AAAAA," Lou says.
"What what what?" Ash asks as Lou hides behind him.
"There's a lizard," Lou says, still hiding and not opening her closed eyes but is pointing in the direction where the lizard is.
"Oh come on it's nothing, just a small creature," Ash says.
"Yes, it is something let's go back!" Lou says.
"Okay okay, there's an empty bench there, let's go."
They both go to the empty bench and sat there. There was a moment of silence between them. From the corner of their eye, they looked at each other, but whenever the other looks back, the first one looks somewhere else.
The silence between them was broken by a young girl crying. Lou and Ash got up and went to that girl. She has black hair and was wearing a cream-colored frock.
"Hey..mind me telling what happened?" Ash asks, crouching down to meet her height. The girl looks at him for a second and then says.
"My mom dad are missing." She says through sobs.
"Sweetie don't worry, we'll find them," Lou says, crouching down as well.
"But mama says never go with strangers." The girl says.
"Trust us, we'll find them, with you," Ash assures her.
"Okay, how do they look?" Lou asks while standing up and grabbing the little girl's hand. Ash stands up as well.
"Mama is wearing a pinkish top and white jeans, and Papa is wearing a black t-shirt and brown jeans.
"There's a woman with a pinkish top..." Lou says, pointing to a woman wearing a pinkish top.
"No it's not her."
"That man?" Ash asks, pointing to a man.
"Nope."
"This lady-"
"No."
"That-"
"Nope."
"They-"
"Nah."
After searching a lot, they couldn't find the girl's parents.
"Ash, what do we do?" Lou whispers to Ash. "Should we call the police?"
"No, Lou, we'll have to find them ourselves. We don't know how the police will take care of her." Ash whispers back, looking at the innocent girl who was looking here and there searching for her mom and dad.
"Hey..." Ash says, crouching down at her height. "Tell me your name?"
"It's Amelia!" The girl says.
"You want a chocolate? I will eat with you as well!" Ash says.
"Sure," Amelia replies.
'Wow, this boy who doesn't share his food is giving his chocolate to a girl?' Lou thought.
'Correction- not his chocolate but Moon's. He stole from her choco box today.' Her sub-conscience says.
Ash takes out two chocolates from his back pocket and gives one to the girl and takes one for himself. They both unwrap it and shove the big round ball into their mouth, and giggled.
They both talked for a while and bonded quite well. Lou was surprised but didn't disturb them.
After some time, two people came looking for Amelia, and when they saw her, they ran towards our trio and hugged Amelia real tight.
"Mamaaaa," Amelia said.
"I thought we had lost you forever.."Her mom says, on the verge of crying.
"Ms. please don't cry. Amelia was safe with us!" Ash says.
"Thank you so much! We owe you, really!" Amelia's dad says.
"No sir, but thanks for the offer. We don't need anything. Amelia's company was really fun!" Ash says.
"Well, okay then. We gotta go, say bye to uncle and aunt Amelia. Her mom says.
Amelia turns to face Ash, a sad expression on her face, Ash crouches down again.
"Don't worry, we'll meet again!" Ash says and hugs her.
"I come here every day in at early evening or so. Come when you have time." Amelia whispers into Ash's ears and Ash smiles.
"Sure." He whispers back while kissing her on the cheek.
"Bye!"
"Bye Amelia, take care!" Ash says and waves at Amelia and her family, going.
Lou just kept staring at Ash, throughout.
"What?" He asks.
"I didn't know you were a parenting material!" Lou says and Ash smirks.
"Well, I like kids, especially you," Ash says, and starts walking towards home.
"HEYY! WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? HUH?" Lou follows him, yelling.
