*Heather's POV*
"That was unexpected," Harry states when our lips part for a breath.
"Trust me, that was unexpected for me, too," I exclaim and Chloe runs over to me.
"You see? He is just like a regular teenage boy," she explains and I laugh.
"I guess that's true," I respond and Niall walks over to join in on the conversation. "Oh, and Chloe, I am sorry for not letting you choose the guy you think will be the best choice for you. I am sorry that I wasn't letting you decide your own future. I was just afraid of the wrong people getting hurt, but if something was meant to happen, it will happen."
"Apology accepted," Chloe states and we hug. "What do I say if Jake asks me to the Spring Formal?"
"Well, when you said he liked Nicoletta, you weren't wrong, but he likes you way more. I will tell him that you don't like him like that anymore and that he should ask Nicoletta," I reply and she smiles.
"Thank you," she whispers and I laugh.
"Well, I guess we don't have any dates. I guess now we're both loners at the dance," I state and she just laughs.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," she says and I become confused. Chloe is getting that look in her eye that she gets when she knows something I don't know.
"Chloe. What are you talking about?" I ask cautiously.
"Nothing," she responds.
"Chloe?"
"Oh, look at the time, I gotta go! I will see you Monday, though!" she shouts and turns around to leave.
"You're not wearing a watch," I point out and she laughs.
"Maybe I just know what time it is because I have magical powers?" she makes up something to leave.
"Ok," I say pretending to believe her. We both laugh. "Bye."
"See you on Monday!" Chloe then goes to her bike and rides away towards her house.
"Well, I have to go somewhere, so you two can talk," Harry informs Niall and me. He leaves and I can tell the conversation is going to be extremely awkward.
"So, do you like Harry?" he asks awkwardly.
"You have no idea," I reply daydreaming about everything.
"Yesterday you hated us," he states and I laugh.
"Oh, Niall, things change," I exclaim and he laughs nervously.
"Well, he really likes you, too. He wouldn't shut up about you all night long," he explains.
"He said you wouldn't shut up about Chloe yesterday," I respond and he blushes.
"That's because Chloe is different than any girl I have ever met. It seems really awkward to understand, but she just has such a positive outlook on life, you know? Nothing seems to bring her down and her laugh is so contagious. And when she blushes, I just want to hug her and tell her that I love her more than anything. I look into her green eyes and everything seems to just seems to vanish from my head. It's almost as if she's doing it on purpose, but I know she's not. I have been waiting a long time to find my princess, and I think I have found her so please, Heather, don't take her away from me. I know I just met her, but it feels like she is the one for me so please. Please let her be mine because I'd be lost without her. I'd be broken and I didn't even realize how much I have been missing until I saw her face. Haven't you ever felt like that? Haven't you ever looked at someone and just thought 'damn, that is one hell of a person' and without them, you don't even know if you could function properly. They showed you what it's like to be alive again as if you were a kid again and that's how Chloe makes me feel. I need her," he explains and I agree with everything. That is exactly how Harry makes me feel.
"You just took the words right out of my mouth. That is exactly how I feel about Harry and it's almost as though you can't explain it. You just feel it. There is no amount of 26 letters or enough time in this whole world to explain just how you feel about that one person," I agree and his eyes light up.
"Exactly. Chloe is just my everything. Without her, I'd have nothing. No amount of money or girls in the world could even come close to her. She's just wonderful," he takes a deep breath.
"Well, I think I have to go home. My mom might be worrying about me," I state and begin to walk away. I reach my car and wave goodbye to Niall. I hop in and drive away.
*Monday*
I wake up and slip into clothes for the day. I couldn't wait for today is when everyone votes for the Spring Formal court. There are five spots open for each position: Spring King, Spring Queen, Spring Prince, and Spring Princess. The juniors are for prince and princess and the seniors are for king and queen.
Everyone suspects Rosie and her group to be the five girls favored for Spring Princess.
I hop in my car and begin driving to school. I park in the junior parking lot and head inside the school buildings where Chloe is standing there.
"Heather!" she shouts and I smile.
"Chloe," I say and she points over to Jake who's standing by his locker.
"Go talk to him and tell him to ask Nicoletta to the dance," she explains and I nod in agreement.
"Now would be a good time," I mutter and head over to Jake. "Jake."
"Heather. Do you think I should ask Chloe now or wait until lunch? Or maybe the end of the day..." he begins thinking and I feel awful going and breaking his heart like this, but I have to.
"Well, over the weekend, Chloe got herself a boyfriend and-"
"A boyfriend? Who? What's his name?" he asks frantically cutting me off.
"Well, his name is Niall," I reply calmly.
"Is it seriously Niall Horan from that stupid new band One Direction?" he asks with an expression of pure sadness.
"I hate to say it, but yes and you can always ask Nicoletta to the Spring Formal," I suggest and he leans against his locker.
"You don't get it, Heather. I love Chloe," he simply whispers as if he were in pain. It's emotional pain, I can tell and I feel really bad for him.
"You will always find somebody else," I state and he just turns away.
"Go away. I can deal with this myself," he says and I obey.
I walk over to Chloe and she has a sad expression as well.
"He looks heartbroken," she observes and looks down at her feet.
"Don't worry, Chloe just wait. Time heals all wounds and he will find somebody better. Trust me. He is a strong guy. He won't let one heartache bring him down," I try to make her feel better, but it obviously isn't working.
"Look, Heather, you were right. Jake does love me, and I ruined everything. How can I be happy when I am responsible for someone crying and hurting?" she asks with tears about to spill from her eyes.
"Just, hold on, ok? Jake will be fine. I promise. I will handle that. Trust me. He will find somebody who loves him just as much as he loves her," I explain and she shakes her head.
"That was me. I mean, it's not his fault he didn't ask me sooner," she states and I nod my head.
"It is. Opportunities leave unless you act quickly and that is what he learned from this. This is for his own good. Believe me. Time and opportunities wait for nobody," I explain and she nods her head.
"You're right. I have moved on and I guess I just have to let Jake move on, too," she says and heads to her locker to get ready for her next class.
"Yeah," I mumble. "I never thought I'd have to deal with problems like this."
"Miss Heather!" my teacher, Mrs. Jordan, shouts.
"Yes?"
"i want you to be in charge of making the boxes and controlling all the votes for the Spring Formal coming up, all right?" she asks staring at me with her cold grey eyes that seem to just burn through her large glasses and right into my soul.
