Tony
After finally getting the kid back to his room and watching Dalin eye him warily, I began walking back towards Alana and Adriel. At first when i brought Matthew back to his dorm Dalin refused. I had to take him aside and explain the situation. I didn't know why Alana distracts herself with that boy until he began telling me he was a danger to Alana. Turns out he has her best interests in mind. He's no Warrior though; he's not strong enough to protect her. More than likely Alana will be the one protecting him. Her attention will be distracted in battle if Dalin is on her mind. She worries about us, I'm aware of that. But she tries to protect everyone, and if worst comes to worst, she'll give her life.
It's about to be 6 in the morning. I've reached the 100 hall and see Adriel and Alana in complete silence. Adriels jaw is straight, his expression serious. He's accepting no bullshit today. Alana is...once again she's distracted. I don't know what she's thinking of but she snaps out of it once her eyes land on me. I wave and smile, I have to maintain some happiness to keep Alana from worry.
"Hey, are you guys alright?" My question awakens a smile on Alana's face.
"Yeah, just a long night," Alana sighs as she speaks. "Did you get Matthew back to his room?"
Her question stuns me. Not because she asked about a human, she's always cared for the humans, but because she remembered his name. She's constantly surprising me with her fondness for the humans. I'm not overly fond of the humans but I will protect them. Alana has dedicated her life to them after the accident. She refuses to let a single person go unnoticed. When this all started she made executive decisions and efforts to make sure the humans were taken care of and were somewhat comfortable. Alana has so much to do; make sure food rations are given, health supplies and needs are met, and yet she spends her time trying to learn the names of 1,000 students.
"Why the hell are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face? Ketchup, blood, maybe some toothpaste...," Alana mused aloud. Her joking tone made me smile. Leave it to her to make things interesting. I guess I'd been looking at her for a while.
Adriel has a ghost of a smile appearing at his lips. His hair is messy but looks suitable. His shirt is ripped and slightly burned around the hem, from the pyre I'm guessing. Alana looks at Adriel and her face rises.
HMMM, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOMETHING THAT MADE THESE TWO SO TENSE. THEY BARELY EVEN LOOKED AT EACH OTHER BEFORE SHE MADE HER VERSION OF A JOKE.
"Hey Adriel, can you help me seperate the food? I know you already taught me the rationings but I kind of forgot," I mumble off while scratching the back of my head. Adriel looks at Alana for a moment and walks towards me.
"I'll teach you only one more time. Your not even the youngest here, Tony. C'mon, Alana is the baby of the family and she's running a full time day care for teenagers," he jokes jabbing at my ribs.
"Shut your face Adriel! I may be the youngest but I'm not young enough to kick your ass! Remember who's ranking number one," she teases Adriel with a smirk. Alana raises her fists in a playful motion and makes an obscene gesture to Adriel trying to instigate him into a fight.
"You see, I'm not sure you want to fight right now, Alana," Adriel states glancing around, "you might get YOUR ass kicked infront of all the students. But you know, if you wanna test out our skills, I'm in."
Adriel unhooks his sword from his waist, and places it in the crevice where the wall meets the floor. In an instant he's infront of Alana and throwing punches. Alana's laughter fills the halls as she diligently dodges the punches thrown at her. She's graceful and sloppy all in one manner of fighting. Theres an open opportunity as she jukes Adriel and he falls to the floor. It's no more than a second before Alana is on his back covering his eyes like a little girl. This brief flash of childhood evaporates and her legs wrap around his neck and she twists her body enough way until they are both on the floor. Adriel wastes no time getting back up and immeadiately siezes her into an arm bar. Alana chuckles but taps out on Adriel's calf muscle.
He releases her arm and laughs, the sound resounds throughout the halls. It's been a while since I've heard him laugh like that. Alana rubs the skin around her arm and pushes Adriel on his shoulder. It's crazy how easily the air shifts between the two. If they're frustrated with each other, they usually fight it out until one taps out. After their little battle, they become best friends again. If they are in peace with each other, all it takes is one stupid comment to send them into pure outrage. Once that happens it usually ends with a few bruises and maybe a busted lip. Regardless of their differences and anger, Alana and Adriel are and will always be family. Bound by blood and by oath.
Adriel retrieves his sword and walks to me, "Alright, let's get going. The students need to eat in 2 hours so we need to get started now."
"Be safe and make sure you pay attention this time Tony. Have fun," she yells as she waves.

"Ugh, they eat like savages. I mean look at this, there's about 3 pounds of food on the floor. How the hell do they miss their mouths by that much? This is ridiculous," I rant aloud, venting my frustrations to Alana. She laughs at my disgust as I hold a plate containing a mixture of what looks like jello, milk, and ground beef.
"They're kids, Tony. What do you expect? For them to be perfect? We've kept them here so they could be safe from what's outside. We knew that in doing this, there would be drawbacks. Yes, sooner or later they will have to clean their own mess, most of them are self sufficient. There's only a few weird, odd-ball students here that make the mess you nearly threw up to," Alana explains, eyeing the plate that held the monstrosity. "Anyways, we won't be doing this for much longer. I've made my decison about the battle. The war between us and Derek will be over soon enough. The one going into battle is.."
