Marshall's POV

Right as we got to the hospital Eli was taken into intensive care almost immediately. As of right now they are just running tests, the doctors said even if it's just a small cold it could be very serious due to Eli's small size. Rihanna has been pacing back and forth across the waiting room, unable to calm down. Luckily we seemed to be the only people here or they would think she's crazy. She normally only paces when she's nervous or worried, but I guess in this case she's feeling both.

Suddenly I felt my pocket vibrate, meaning I was getting a call. I slid the small device out of my pocket and checked the caller ID.

... It's Katy.

I quickly slid my finer across the screen to answer the phone.

"Hello." I said, making Rihanna stop pacing so she could look at me.

"WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?! IS EVERYTHING OKAY?!" Katy yelled breathlessly almost as if she had just been running.

"We had to take Eli to the hospital, he had a high fever... As of right now we don't know if everything is okay.." I said truthfully, I could tell what I said hit Rihanna hard because she sat down beside me to bury her face into my chest so her sobs were muffled. I gently rubbed my hand over her hair, consoling her the best I could.

"Oh my god! Well me and John are on our way now, what hospital are you at?"

"The Presbyterian Hospital on 68th street.. How did you find out we were missing?"

"I guess some of the staff saw you guys run out of the building, so the front desk called me to ask if everything was okay."

Right as Katy said that, the doctor walked into the waiting room and called for both Rihanna and I.

"Okay, uh Katy I gotta go text me when you get here." I said hanging up the phone before she could answer. I stood up from my seat and took Rihanna's shaking hand into mine, it's tough to be the strong one in this situation, but I have to be for Rihanna's sake.

We followed the doctor down the corridor and into the intensive care unit. Nurses rushed around beside us holding clipboards and food trays. God I could never work in a hospital, this is way to hectic for me.

Finally the doctor lead us into the room Eli was being held. As soon as we walked in we saw our son laying on one of the small portable baby beds, similar to the one he had to stay in when he was first born. The bed was covered by large transparent plastic, that kept any outside germs from reaching Eli. I hated the way it looked... It made my stomach turn to see Eli laying with tubes coming from his chest, and nose. Inside what seemed to look like a see through box.

The doctor walked over and handed Robyn and I two pairs of thick, blue, latex gloves.

"Your going to have to wear these if you want to hold or touch your son..." He explained in a very serious tone. Without a second thought Robyn and I had our gloves on, ready to see our baby.

"We ran a bunch of tests... And finally we found out what was wrong. Your son has pneumonia, which is a respiratory infection when fluid fills up in the lungs... It causes high fevers, sharp chest pains, dehydration, and many other things. It's highly treatable with some antibiotics, but he will have to stay here for a few days so we can make sure his vitals stay at a healthy level. Sickness with premature babies is always an uphill battle, but Eli is a strong boy and I bet he'll recover just fine..." The doctor explained, letting us know that everything is going to be just fine. I felt a huge weight lift from my chest when I heard the news. He isn't completely okay yet, and he's still probably in loads of pain, but he's going to be okay soon and that's all the matters in situations like this you have to focus on the positive.
