After you and Wanda finish getting ready you walk to the room the party was at. Since the two of you took your sweet time, the party had been going on for at least an hour already. As you walk through the door, you immediately spot Natasha at the bar making herself a drink. You walk over to sit across from her and Wanda goes to the couches to talk to some of the party guests.

Natasha's eyes flickered up to you before quickly landing back on her drink. As if her mind had finally processed who she was looking at, her gaze slowly raised to look at you once again and they wondered over your body. Her eyes finally met yours when you took a seat on the bar stool and she pushed her drink in front of you and motioned for you to have it as she grabbed another glass and began making another. "Someone's tardy" she said playfully as she smirked at you. "I prefer fashionably late" you defended as you took a sip of the drink.

"Well waiting for you was worth it because you look breathtaking" she complimented and you smiled and looked down at your lap, and you realized that people don't normally compliment you so you don't know how to act or respond. "You don't look to bad yourself beautiful" you shot back and she took a sip of her drink, "I know, I always look good" she said smugly and you couldn't help but agree with her.

"Even if you do look that good, you owe me for leaving me alone at this boring party" she placed her forearms on the countertop and leaned over. You copied her so your faces were closer together, "still boring?" you said in a more hushed tone. "It's a little better now that you're here" she replied in the same manner.

You leaned in closer so your faces were inches apart and you could tell she thought you were going to kiss her but instead you whispered, "I'm going to go mingle" a smile plastered on your face as you hopped of the stool carefully with your drink in hand, and you walked over to Wanda. Just after you left, Natasha was accompanied by Bucky. who sat down on the stool you were previously occupying.

"So it's official" Bucky stated almost as a question and Natasha could only manage an awkward half smile. "Yeah she chose me" Natasha carefully rubbed in his face but Bucky's face stayed stoic. "Even if she did, it's not going to last" Natasha couldn't help but roll her eyes at his comment, "Why is that?" she didn't care that she was falling into his trap, she wanted to know why he was so pushy about this. "Y/n's a good person" he started and she nodded confused at why that was important.

"You're not as good a person" Natasha sighed at the truth because deep down she believed everything that she was told about being a monster. "You know what happens... You will either corrupt or break her, there's no in between" Natasha was taken aback and she wanted to believe that she would never hurt you, but there's no certainty that she wouldn't. "So remember that if you mess up, that y/n; a girl that is beautiful, sweet, and too good for this world, is the person that you are hurting" he finished and before she Natasha could rebut he stood up and walked away leaving her open mouthed and shocked.

Her mind was racing with the possibility that he could be right, and she wanted so badly to shut him up and show him that you would be happy with her, but she would have to be willing to risk it.

Natasha watched you from a distance for a majority of the party. When you looked for her she was sat on the balcony so you joined her. "I saw you watching me" you teased and she smirked at you before turning her attention to the city and a blanket of silence covered the two of you.

"Y/n, are you sure you want to be with me?" you took a second to process what she said and turned to her with a puzzled face, "Of course, why wouldn't I?" she sighed and then turned to face you. "Have you really given thought into this relationship?" she started, "Like really thought about it?" she continued and you opened your mouth to speak but she cut you off, "I don't know if you're aware but I'm a bad person" she was about to speak again but you quickly covered her mouth with your hand and she was froze and looked at your hand before looking at you. "Sorry, just let me talk" you said as you took your hand off her face.

"I know what this is about... You're scared that you'll get hurt, but I promise that I wouldn't ever try to hurt you" you said carefully and she laughed. "No y/n/n, it's quite the opposite really" you giggled from thinking about how embarrassed you felt and she noticed so she pulled you into a hug as you both laughed. "Nat, you don't have to worry. I know you'd never want to hurt me" you reassured before you pulled away and she pulled you in for a short sweet kiss.

"Even if I don't, you still deserve better than me" Natasha stated as she moved a strand of hair but shooed her hand away. "No" you said firmly so that she would listen. "You know what I deserve? To be happy" she nodded, "And Natasha you make me happy" you finished and her gaze fell to your feet.

"You make me happy too" she said softly with her head down. "Then there's no problem" she looked back at you and sigh. "I can't because if I hurt you, I would die" you brushed your fingers through your hair in frustration. "To be honest Nat, I'm can't be 100% sure one of us won't get hurt, but I'm willing to risk it if you are" Natasha stayed silent, "Why?" she questioned. "What do you mean why? I just told you!" you raised your voice, luckily the music was too loud for the anyone at the party to hear you.

"Y/n we barely started dating why are you pushing this so hard when you can't be certain?" you shut your eyes, trying to stay calm, "Nat you're right" you stated and she took in a deep breath. "Thank you, you were just being stubborn" you scoffed, "You know what, I am stubborn. I'm stubborn because I think I'm falling in love with you Nat so please just let me love you" you pleaded to her and her eyebrows furrowed.

"You love me?" she questioned and her face was near unreadable. "Yes I think so" you said softly and she sighed, "You can't love me" she stated and you were beyond frustrated at this point.

"Why can't I Nat?" you raised your voice again and she rolled her eyes. "Because love is for children" you didn't even know what to say to that, because she had told you that is what she was taught to believe, but you thought that being with you had cured that. You just turned in your heels and began to walk away but she grabbed your hand and spun you to face her again.

"Where are you going?" she really was clueless, "I'm leaving you."
