CHAPTER 07

"Yes Belle, already sent the report through email." I thanked the caller and turn to answer another call.

"Belle Rhodes speaking, how may I help you?" Napahawak ako saaking sentido at pinasadahan ng tingin ang papel na nasa harapan, even the highlited sentences are too long.

"Good morning Ms. Rhodes, this is Ellen from Peñablanca plantation." I sipped at the coffe and listened to her while reading the graphs in my laptop, "Señorita Klara would like to talk to you. Can we set an appointment?"

Napasandal ako sa swivel chair, "Why?" I pressed enter after typing my announcement to all Moonstar managers. "Is there any problem?"

"Its about the supplies, Ms. There's a little problem in hacienda. Señorita wants to talk to you in person." I bite my lowerlip before sighing heavily. Bahagya akong kinabahan sa problemang sinasabi nito but I tried not to panic, I still have a lot to do.

"I'm free this afternoon. Where should we meet?" Hindi ko inalis ang titig sa screen, nagso-scroll ako sa mga sales reports and reviews.

"Can you arrive at hacienda 3 o'clock this afternoon? Señorita would love to go there but she's dealing with current situation here." I stare at my wristwatch, its 10:30 in the morning yet, and the travel will take two hours.

"Okay."

"Thank you Ms. Rhodes, adiós." The call ended so I continued browsing in the screen.

"Bakit hindi kayo maghire ng secretary Ms?" Biglaang tanong ng isang employee habang nililinisan ang silid, "Marami-rami na po kayong napatayong branch, parang ang hassle kung sainyo po dumiretsong tumatawag ang mga may kailangan." "You know how to answer phone calls yeah?" Napaisip sya at dahan-dahang tumango, "You know how to write appointments?" Tumango syang muli ngunit nagtataka ang mga tingin, hula ko ay nasa 20s pa ang kanyang edad, "Driver license? You have one?"

"Nag-iipon pa Ms, para makakuha. Tumataas na kasi ang bayad." Napatango ako, not bad. "B-Bakit niyo po natanong?"

I close my folder to finish my paperworks, "I'm hiring you as my secretary." He looks clean and silent so he passed.

Napaawang ang kanyang bibig, "P-po?"

"Ayaw mo ba?" Pinaglaruan ko ang ballpen habang nakatingin lang sakanya. "You'll be an intern for 3 months, if you survive then you'll be my permanent secretary. You'll get paid higher."

"B-bakit po ako?" Muli syang napakamot sa batok habang hawak ang walis, "W-wala po akong alam Ms, at kadalanan sa mga ganyan babae po ang gumagawa."
