Breakfast was finished and overall it went well. Derek disappeared with Leah sometime after and Scott left with Allison, Isaac, Kira, Lydia, and Erica back to their own packhouse. Malia, on the other hand, stayed with Stiles as per usual, but Stiles had the problem of his Quileute wolf and Jake both looking and watching him and Malia like kicked puppies.
So, he was about to do the only logical thing.
"Hey, Em, walk with me?" he asked, stopping in front of Embry. "I need to talk to you."
"Uh..." Embry looked up at his imprint nervously before hesitantly nodding and standing up. "Sure."
"Uh, oh," they heard Jared's voice tease from the living room. "Someone's in trouble."
"Faster than we expected," Paul chuckled.
And for good measure, Stiles hit both wolves upside the head. "Shut up, seriously," he sighed.
"Ouch!"
"Easy!" Paul waved Stiles' hand away. "It was only a joke."
Stiles rolled his eyes, already turning and walking out the door with Embry behind him. "Am I in trouble?" Embry asked, and Stiles stopped to look at him.
"What? No, why would you be in trouble?"
"I don't know," Embry shrugged with a small chuckle. "I guess it's just the way you said we need to talk, it doesn't sound good."
"You're fine, trust me," Stiles smiled at him, "perfect."
"Well, that's good then," Embry wolfishly grinned and quickly made up the space between them to grab Stiles' hand as they started their way toward their spot in the woods.
But they didn't get far.
"Stiles where are you going?" Malia called after him from Sam and Emily's porch. "You promised to take me back to the house. I don't know where Derek is and you said I couldn't mess up these clothes by changing."
Embry glanced between them in confusion.
"Only because Lydia bought you that outfit," Stiles pointed out, "and I rather not be in our Banshee's bad books quite yet."
"So, where are you going?" she asked.
"For a walk," Stiles shrugged, then smirked. "I'm sure Jake will keep you plenty of company until I get back."
"And when will that be?"
"We'll see, Mals," he grinned and waved at her. "Have fun."
"I hate you!" she growled after him.
"Love you too!" he called back before taking Embry's hand again and started walking.
But it was then that Embry decided to ask, he didn't want to, but he had to. When they got closer to their spot and the clouds parted for the sun like they did every afternoon for an hour, he stopped walking making Stiles stumble in his steps.
"What's wrong?" Stiles frowned at him. "We're almost there."
"I know," was all Embry said before blurting out what he really wanted to say, or rather ask. "What's with you and her? Malia?"
"Malia?" Stiles asked in confusion. "What do you mean what's with us? She's my best friend right after Scott."
"I get that," Embry nodded, but Stiles could tell he didn't totally believe it.
"Alright, come on, Sourwolf 2.0," Stiles teased and pulled his wolf the rest of the way toward their normal patch of field. "What's wrong with you? What are you really trying to say, or ask? Either way, I'm all ears," he smiled and it was really hard for Embry not to return it.
