Stiles and Embry wandered the woods until they made it to the open field Stiles had first seen Sam, Paul, and Embry in, in their werewolf forms that is. Stiles smiled remembering that day it was the first most eventful day in Forks he'd had especially when Embry chased after him and shifted back completely naked and hovering above him.
"So why'd you drag me out here?" Stiles asked as he stepped in front of Embry and started walking backwards.
"Dragged?" Embry rolled his eyes with a chuckle, "you were more than willing."
Stiles just shrugged until he heard the crunching and snapping of twigs and two seconds later out jumped Leah from the opposite cluster of trees. She gave them each a look and a low growl before turning her head to the side and racing off back to the house.
"Leah" Embry sighed.
"Yeah" Stiles breathed out, "what's up with her anyway?"
"It's sort of a triangle thing" Embry stated as he and Stiles sat down in what Stiles would like to call the middle of absolutely nowhere.
"Triangle thing?"
"Before Sam was with Emily, he was with Leah-"
"Ah, okay" Stiles nodded in understanding, "what happened?"
"Well..." Embry tilted his head with a sigh, "Sam imprinted."
"Do I even want to know what that means?" Stiles questioned getting a soft laugh out of Embry.
"Imprinting on someone is like... like when you see them" Embry zoned out on something far off in the distance as he spoke, "everything changes all of a sudden. It's not gravity holding you to the planet, it's them." Embry looked up at Stiles, "nothing else matters, you would do anything; be anything for them."
"Sounds like you know the feeling" Stiles commented making Embry's gaze drop to the grass and a thought crossed Stiles' mind, "do you know the feeling? Embry..." Stiles hesitantly asked, "have you imprinted on someone."
Embry glanced up at Stiles his eyes staring into Stiles' own with enough intensity to kill, "I think I have, but I don't think it's caught up with my wolf yet."
Stiles stared at him wanting so much to ask who Embry thought he imprinted on, but before he could Embry quickly spoke up again.
"Sam was with Leah when he imprinted on Emily. He hates himself every day for hurting Leah, but he couldn't help it."
"Emily was the one" Stiles finished.
"Yeah" Embry nodded.
All of a sudden Embry stood back up, holding his hands out to Stiles but not saying one word, Stiles gives him a highly confused look but does as he was silently asked and lets Embry pull him back up.
"I'll run you home" Embry offered, "it's not far."
Stiles' eyes immediately widened in what he'd like to think as surprise but in actuality was fear.
"How about walk or even better the truck we came in" Stiles all but pleaded this time giving Embry his best try at puppy dog eyes.
Embry chuckled, "what's wrong?"
"I went for a run last night with Jake" Stiles confessed, "I still can't feel half my muscles and the other half are still screaming in pain for being so stupid to think I could keep up with a Quileute werewolf."
"Ah" Embry nodded in understanding, "that explains why you were extra slow today" he joked getting a mocked gasp of shock and hurt from Stiles making them both burst out laughing. "But, I actually meant I'll run you home" Embry repeated this time waving his hand around until Stiles got what he meant.
"Oh..." Stiles said, "oh!" he nodded finally understanding, "that'd be really cool" he smiled.
Embry grinned as he made space in between them to shift, "wait... I forgot to ask you something."
"Ask me what?" Stiles questioned curiously.
"I know you're going back in two days, but I have a patrol on Saturday," Embry said, "so I was kinda hoping tomorrow we could head out to Port Angelos for food and a movie before you left, sound good?" Embry asked.
Stiles smiled. But it was different it wasn't forced or mimicked it was very, very much genuine, "sounds perfect."
"Awesome!" Embry grinned his famous wolfish grin before he set his gaze in front of him his breathing going slightly elevated and his shoulders gently trembling as his wolf took over.
Stiles stared at Embry in this form he was really beautiful with his big brown actual puppy dog eyes and his shiny white, grey, and black fur coat.
Embry let out a satisfied huff of air before turning back to face Stiles and lowly bowing. Stiles softly chuckled as he ran a hand over Embry's head making a sound that sounded much like a purr escape the wolf before Stiles gently gripped at his scruff and climbed up onto his back.
It was a short run back to the Swan house, Embry stopped at the edge of the woods making sure not to be seen as he crouched down to let Stiles slide off of his back. Stiles' feet gently hit the ground as he twisted back around to face Embry.
"Thanks, Em" Stiles whispered.
Embry gave a small nod in response and watched as Stiles started to walk out of the woods before quickly stumbling back when Embry lightly nipped at his arm.
"What?" Stiles asked, "what's wrong?"
Embry softly rubbed his head against Stiles' outstretched hand letting out a low and pleasing hum at the contact.
Stiles smiled rolling his eyes as his fingers brushed through Embry's soft fur coat, "I'll see you tomorrow, big guy."
Stiles stayed at home for the rest of the night catching up on missed messages and late emails all from the pack. Scott, Lydia, and Allison just wanted to check up on him saying they missed him and couldn't wait for him to come home. Malia, on the other hand, wanted to know specifically when Stiles would be back she was stressing about the next full moon, which was in exactly four days. Derek and Deaton each left Stiles a short and sweet how are you and by how are you, Stiles meant Deaton emailed, 'is your spark alright?' while Derek texted, 'hey, you still alive?'.
Yes, they were as concerned about him as you could get.
