True to Jacob's word. Embry showed up on Stiles' doorstep, at 8 the next morning. An hour after Stiles had dragged himself out of bed and into a warm shower his aching muscles from last night's run screaming at him with pure agony. Stiles answered the door and before it had time to fully open Embry was launching himself forward and gripping Stiles in a tight and almost bear crushing hug. Yep, Embry definitely hadn't changed at all in the last year.

"I'm happy to see you too!" Stiles exclaimed stumbling backward a step at the force before quickly wrapping his arms around Embry in a hopeful attempt not to fall.

"I missed you! How have you been?" the puppy dog look he wore triumphed Scott's a million times over and that irritatingly stupid wolfish grin had Stiles' stomach doing backflips.

"Good, good, fine" Stiles nodded, "and you? How's the pack?" he didn't have the chance to ask Jacob on their run back last night mostly because he could hardly breathe at the rate Jake was running let alone think.

"Great, especially now that Jacob's shifted and Quil too!" Embry practically bounced on the spot with how happy he was making Stiles smile.

"That's awesome!"

"We even had a girl shift." Embry continued, "Her name is Leah and whoa, you don't ever want to be on her bad side."

Stiles vaguely remembered Embry mentioning how rare it was for a girl to shift, not impossible but definitely something hardly ever seen.

"Why'd she shift?" Stiles asked curiously as he grabbed his jacket off of the coatrack.

Embry paused for a minute, "Well we kind of all expected her brother Seth to shift, and if any girl was going to shift it would be Leah. The last pack had Ephraim Black, Levi Uley, and Quil Atearea II, and Leah is related to all of them."

"Oh" Stiles nodded, "makes sense" he shrugged.

Embry and Stiles walked out of the house and climbed into his dusty blue pickup truck.

"So, now that Jake's shifted does that make him the alpha?" Stiles asked out of nowhere startling Embry as they drove out of town and toward the reserve.

"It did" Embry started, "but he doesn't want the position."

"Why?" Stiles asked surprised.

"He doesn't think he can handle the stress of everyone looking to him for the decision making and since Sam was doing pretty well with it. He's fair. He's reasonable. And he doesn't let his emotions cloud his judgment when it comes to the pack" Embry explained and a part of Stiles was kind of glad that Sam got to stay alpha.

Embry looked over at Stiles for a reaction or a sarcastic remark but all he got in return was a simple smile.

"Okay, we're here" Embry announced pulling into Sam and Emily's driveway.

"Great, I'm starving" Stiles sighed as he climbed out of the truck and shut the door behind him only to be tackled in a hug he wasn't expecting. Sam smiling from the porch steps.

"Stiles!" Emily exclaimed pulling away from him, "you're back."

"And you're stronger," Stiles remarked making her laugh.

"Come in" Emily smiled locking her arm with his, "I've made all the guys' favorites, Jacob and Embry said you like your morning coffee and pancakes I got you that too."

Stiles grinned from ear to ear his eyes lighting up with pure adoration for Sam's Luna, "God! You are amazing, you know that?" he asked causing Emily to blush a light shade of red, "I could kiss you right now."

"Easy there" Sam chuckled, "she's mine" he stated giving Emily a kiss on the cheek as she walked passed him and into the house.

"Hey, Sam" Stiles greeted the alpha with a smile.

"Good to see you again" Sam nodded.

Stiles walked the familiar passage through the entranceway and into the living room where he was greeted with a glare from a short raven-haired girl.

"Who the hell are you?" she practically snarled as Embry came up behind Stiles.

"Stiles, this is Leah Clearwater, Leah this is Stiles" Embry introduced.

"I don't care" Leah replied as she slipped out of the barstool she was sitting on and walked into the opposite room.

"Delightful, isn't she?" Embry asked.

"Bundle of pure joy if I ever saw one" Stiles remarked getting an amused grin from Embry as the two hesitantly followed Leah into the dining room where Emily was already setting the table for breakfast.

"Hey, Stiles" Jared called from behind them, "long time."

"Hey, what's going on?" Stiles asked as a panting Paul bounded into the room behind him stood a grinning Jake.

"Paul bet Jacob he couldn't outrun him" Jared explained as he skillfully stole a bread roll dodging Emily's scolded glare and hit that just missed his arm.

Leah rolled her eyes in annoyance at their easy ability to be so happy and playful, "I'm going out on patrol" she announced making her way to the back door.

"Leah, wait" Emily called after her, "don't you want to have breakfast first?"

"No" Leah coldly replied as she lunged herself out the door and shifted on the spot.

Sam saw the sadness and guilt flash in his imprint's eyes, "it's okay" he reassured her his arms instinctively wrapping around her waist in comfort.

"Girl needs to sort out her emotions" Jared commented.

"Problem?" Stiles questioned.

Sam lifted his head from Emily's shoulder, "no" he immediately denied, "let's eat."

Embry made a 'tell you later' face and against Stiles' pestering and eager curiosity he subtly nodded and took a seat beside Jacob and Paul, who by the looks of it was still trying to catch his breath.

After that, breakfast went from awkward and uncomfortable to relaxed and comfortable in a matter of minutes, especially when Jacob, Embry, and Stiles started up a conversation. Paul and Jared soon following causing Emily to laugh at their ridiculous and stupids jokes which immediately eased Sam and lightened the atmosphere in general. Quil showed up a little while later soon followed by Billy.

The Quileute pack had a habit of making Stiles feel right at home. It was easy with them like Stiles had all the time in the world when he sat and listened to their stories.

Luckily for him, it wasn't until right after breakfast did Stiles' natural luck of chaos, catch up with him.

Charlie had just gotten back from his graveyard shift and was passed out in his room fast asleep, Bella, on the other hand, called Stiles to come straight home for some reason.

"Bella?" Stiles called out as he walked through the front door. He had Embry drop him back off at home but not without promising he'd go back to the reserve tomorrow morning for yet another pack breakfast.

Bella jogged down the staircase her jacket slung over her arm and her pickup truck keys in hand as she grabbed onto Stiles' arm and pulled him back out the house.

"We're going."

To say Stiles was a little confused was a freaking understatement, "Going?" he asked, "going where?"

"La Push, I need to see Jacob" Bella replied as she slid into the driver's seat and started up the engine not even letting Stiles get two words out.

"Bells, I-"

"I really need to see him, Stiles," Bella said sparing him a glance.

Stiles could already tell whatever he said now or however, he tried to talk her out of it, it wouldn't work. So, instead, he kept quiet and enjoyed the intense ride back to the reserve.

This was definitely going to be an outright disaster!
