I woke up from my short nap and stretched but then ran out of my room ready for the day. Expect it was 9:30. At night. There wasn't much day to seize so i sat.
"Hi Wilby." i said yawning with a taunting smile, he groaned at the nickname. It came from me mispronouncing his name once when i was tired and he teased me about it but now i teased him. Wilbur looked back to his book. It was the one the townsfolk wrote for us, the one Alice read to us.
"Tommy." Wilbur said nodding to the side telling me to come closer to him, "This is a part Alice skipped when reading to us aloud, 'she is disproved to be Queen by many. Yet it is inevitable, unfortunately meant to be.'?" he asked holding the book facing him so he could read too. "What do they mean? I can't put my finger on it." Will questioned looking to me for an opinion, he was really curious looking.
"I don't know. If anyone is to know it's Alice. We should go ask her!" i said confidently pulling him up from his chair by his hand, "Okay." he sighed smiling seeing my eagerness.
We walked to the room, the door was shut. "Alice?" i asked for permission to come in as i opened the door. "Come in." she sighed not looking up from her book, her feet were on the right arm of her armchair and her head on the left arm. She closed her book her eyes traveling to Wilbur immediately upon hearing two people walking in instead of just me. "Do you both need to be in here?" she hissed her eyes narrow still just staring at Wilbur, what had Wilbur done to upset her?
"Were confused about a part you skipped when reading to us aloud it reads, 'she is disproved to be Queen by many. Yet it is inevitable, unfortunately meant to be.'? what do you think they mean?" Wilbur said taking a seat beside Alice as i sat on the floor.
"Easy, their being sexist. Because i popped out as a girl and stayed that way they immediately assume i am weak. But we know, Dad knows it's not true, i've almost beaten him in a fight." she explained calm with her tone but her furrowed eyebrows said otherwise. Also this is rare, she actually said Dad instead of Phil, i smiled to myself.
"Why didn't you just read it out?" Wilbur pried, did he want to die?
Alice glared at him and he smirked thinking he got to her, he's been in a constant state of wanting to get to her so it makes him feel better about himself. It's sad. She sat up right, "Because, some things that are said without an explanation or for it to seem not all that bad may be heard as a lesson instead of an insult." she said making her words somehow sound graceful. Wilburs expression faded and he walked out of the room leaving me, Alice and that book.
"We're you sad when you read what the townsfolk wrote about you? You know the rude things." i said looking at the floor. "Of course." she sort of mumbled, her voice slightly trembled.
A thought i've had since, well forever was that my siblings (because they were older than me) couldn't be hurt or sad. It seemed invincible because it had been disproven many times, today the thought was shattered due to the slight tremble of the two words she had just spoke to me.
She's always been seen as our strongest family member to everyone, i think. And if not, then to me she is the strongest, she is invincible.
