Soon-to-be

"So the soon-to-be ruler would take the throne despite any and everything, she would finally be Queen."

Our oldest, Alice (who is 16)read then closing the book. "Pft- what a dumb story." Tommy, our youngest (who is 8) scoffed earning a smack on the arm from one of our middle children, Wilbur (who is 14). "You're in this story too Tommy, it's about us just without speaking a name." Alice leaned toward Tommy giggling. "It was very nice of the townsfolk to all come together and write such a beautiful story without even knowing what goes on inside." I said grabbing the book from her hands and placing it back on the shelf, "It was nice of them to include Mother in the story." Alice spoke with a small smile that faded soon.

They each nodded softly with a sad smile. "Hullo." our other middle child (who is 15) greeted, "Techno!" Alice exclaimed running to him wrapping her arms around his neck. Despite her being the eldest she was shorter than both Will and Techno, which sadly made her seem weaker to the townsfolk.

Soon the siblings ran off to play or spar leaving me by my lonesome. I walked to the balcony to just stare down at the garden where flowers and plants grew ones Techno had taken the job of taking care of after the loss of my wife, their mother.
