Chapter 45: Choices!

I pick up my unconscious mate, ignoring the electrifying sparks that go through my body when her skin touches mine. I take a deep sniff. My wolf is still at the surface, being called by Catrina's still dormant yet slightly awake wolf's calls. The urge to mate, claim and make her mine forever is so potent that my fangs have descended and refuse to go back.

No bothering about my fangs or rather my semi-nude state, I start walking towards where Dominic and Fenris have gathered. Catrina shifts in my arms slightly before settling into a much comfortable position. It makes me notice that she's not completely unconscious. She might be aware that I am with her, but her exhausted body has given up and the heat is slowly unfurling.

It's not at its peak from what my wolf feels, it's slow in coming but it'd be much more intense now that I have touched her and her body has recognised me as her mate.

Earlier when I saw that rogue over my mate's naked form, it took all my will to not behead him. Only Fenris's Alpha command made me stop from killing him there.

I might have left him alive for questioning but he won't be alive for long. He'll be dead and I'll be the one to behead him. That's my promise to Catrina. I vow to avenge her.

"...she was chained."

Muted whispers catch my attention, making me stop thinking about various ways to disembowel the rogue and focus on the people around me. Taking a deep sniff, I confirm that it's Fenris so I walk towards the group through the dimly lit cavern.

I still can't confirm if this is a cavern or a man-made cave. The grooves and niches of the walls of this cavern appear to be naturally eroded but the cavern where Catrina was kept appeared to be more modern looking.

Keeping a leash on myself to not hunt down that rogue, I hold Catrina tightly in my arms and take quiet steps forward and stop only when I reach near Fenris. He tilts his head sideways to nod at me and then turns his attention back to the cell.

Confused at Fenris's behaviour, I take a step ahead and peep into the cell, not at all ready to watch the sight in front of me.

"Are these..."

"Yes," I am interrupted by Dominic who walks out of the cell, looking better than before. His eyes zero in on my mate who's bundled up in the cloak and in a blink, he's standing in front of me, hovering over Catrina's unconscious form.

His closeness irks me and my wolf, making a growl slip from my throat. Dominic backs off a little, raising his hands in surrender.

"So, I see you did find her," muses Dominic making me grunt.

"Sorry for taking off. Her scent and her screams just called to me," I try to whisper but it comes out as a growl, unable to keep a lid on my rage. I just want to get my mate out of here.

"No problem. It seems there were other prisoners too," he says and then tilts his chin towards the cell.

"But who are all these girls?" I ask. Dominic shrugs, shaking his head and Fenris keeps staring at the cell as if trying to extract answers from the trapped girls.

He slowly turns his head at me and I get the full impact of his black gaze on me.

"They are traumatised. Let's get them out. Calum and Nora must have returned now after teleporting Cayden in the school infirmary."

"What about that child?" I ask.

"She was probably another bargaining chip for Catrina to behave, according to Calum," whispers Fenris, which enrages me further. Using a child as a pawn!? Ublyudok mudak!
