Chapter V: The Masquerade

"Welcome everyone to my Masquerade party!" Aaron announced. "I'm sure everyone will enjoy themselves and this will be a great way to get to know each other better!" He sounded like teachers at the start of school dances. Like the one in yr-. No, nows not the time I thought. He said a few other things but I wasn't really listening. I was still confused why he had invited me. It was really weird why would a popular boy invite me to a masquerade. It didn't add up.

If he had a crush on me it would have been more obvious

It's not like we know each other from a young age

We are not friends nor BF and GF

So I was very confused. Then I caught onto the last bit of his speech he said, "hopefully there will be no problems at this party," " And we can all enjoy it together." He wasn't looking at me though. He was looking at Moon. Nobody else seemed to notice. So I just let it slide. Aaron started walking over to the karaoke. Practically everyone else went too. Not me though I immediately went over to the buffet. Moon followed me. She looked amazing her tanned really matched the colour of her purple dress. The mask matched the colour of her dress and had gold patterns around the edge. She was one of Cassandra's best friends. I don't think she liked Cassandra though. She definitely did not. I don't think anyone did like her but she thought everyone loved her.

"Hi," Moon said. I had never really heard her talk before. Her voice was so soft.

"Hi," I replied "Are you ok?"

"Yeah..." she said " Just don't want to follow the crowd."

"Understandable," I agreed.

"Do you-umm maybe- you know, hang out tonight," moon asked nervously

"Sure!" I said beaming. Going to this party was a good idea after all. "Let's go to the photo booth!"

"Ok!" She laughed as walked off hand in hand towards the photo booth. We stood there in-front of the backdrop. We smiled together as a person took our photo. It was so much fun. Then we met this awesome person called Lucia. Then once the photoshoot was done Moon grabbed mine and Lucia's arms and dragged us back to the buffet. We looked with pure delight at all the amazing food there. There was macaroons all different colours, profiteroles with dipping chocolate, iced cupcakes, mousses, and strawberries with a chocolate dipping fountain next to it and so much more. I looked at Moon, and she looked at me and I looked at Lucia and we smiled simultaneously. Time to eat I thought.

"I am soooooo full," I said.

"I feel you sis," she said. (They are not actually sisters I'm meaning it in a friend way) " I think I'm going to throw up!"Lucia said as she ran to the toilets. Oh no I thought. I went over to the karaoke stage to see what was going on. Aaron was on the stage it seemed like he was choosing who to sing with as soon as he saw me his eyes lit up. "Maddi you will sing with me!" He said. Everyone turned and looked at me some sad, some angry, some really didn't care but Cassandra was fuming. I stepped onto the stage and took the microphone and started to sing.

Cassandra ran off. At least I think she did because when I finished I couldn't see her. After we got off the stage Aaron said " You have a beautiful voice,"

"Thanks I guess," I said, " Im-umm-going-um-to find my friends Lucia and Moon, yeah," I ran off leaving Aaron. I felt kinda bad for him. But I needed to find Moon and Lucia.

"You sounded soooo amazing on stage!" Moon said.

"I found you," I said.

"Yup you found us!" Lucia replied giggling. I heard a scream.

"I wonder who just screamed?" I said

"Probably a girl getting rejected by Aaron," Moon replied. I laughed.

A girl in tears walked up to me. "You killed her!" she shouted. Everyone looked at me.

"What?" I said very confused "Who?"
