I snapped awake when sand shot up my nose. *cough cough cough cough*. Where am I? It looked like Puerto Rico, but I couldn't see anything because it was dark. I heard the distant sound of waves crashing, and birds called in the distance. But something didn't seem right. I couldn't put my finger on it. I stood up, brushing the sand off my suit. I saw a lighthouse, towering over me. The light whooshed past me and I was temporarily blinded. I looked around, seeing only a boardwalk stretching off into the horizon and the lighthouse on the beach. There were no boats in sight, but there was still the incessant clanging of boat bells. I heard a faint scream. I stopped moving altogether and stopped to listen. It came again, louder. It was high pitched, so it must be Bryn. I tilted my head, trying to get a better feel for where it was coming from. It was loud and clear this time, coming from the lighthouse. I sprinted toward it, and tried to find a way in. ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Oh wait nope there's a ladder. I began to climb up the ladder, rung after rung. I finally reached the top, and hoisted myself up and over the railing. The blinding light swept over me again, and I squinted my eyes to keep most of the beam out. I looked around and saw a hatch. I walked over to it, shrugged, and opened it. It looked to be candle lit, so I jumped the few meters downward and landed softly on a pad. Bryn was tied to a chair, and had a gag that was not only tied, but also taped, duct taped, and padlocked. She had an urgent look in her eyes, and pointed to Amàya, who was standing in a corner, creepily.
"Your girlfriend's a talker," Amàya said, with a mischievous smile.
"LET HER GO!" I screamed, in my not so deep voice.
Bryn screamed and was dropped into a lower story, this one filled with thousands upon thousands of black widows and brown recluses, the top most poisonous spiders. I grabbed a rope and a few candles and jumped in after her. Bryn still had her gag and was tied to a chair, so there was no way she could get out of this by herself. She struggled hard with her gag, finally getting it loose.
"SAM!"
"IT'S OK I'VE GOT YOU!" I yelled back. I fought with desperation at the stupid spiders, squishing as many as I can. However, that was not good enough. I finally enabled my super speed, and began wielding my sword at the spiders. This went on for like 5 minutes, and finally I got all of them. I turned to Bryn, and she smiled but then became wide-eyed with horror as she watched a black widow crawl up her leg and bite her, right on the thigh. I flicked the spider off her thigh and smashed it into the ground and turned toward Bryn. I quickly untied her and picked her up. She was beginning to shiver. I sprinted toward the elevator and quickly exited. The elevator door burst open and everyone cheered, then immediately stopped when they saw Bryn. I laid her on the couch and she began to run a high fever. Bryn looked up at me and then she went unconscious. I called 911, and Noel and Jacob teleported us back to the safe house.
The medics thanked me and took Bryn away in the ambulance. I began to pace around the house. Everyone tried calming me down, but nothing worked. I had a restless night, and called the hospital 15 times. Oh Bryn, please be ok!
