Day Nineteen Prompt:
Smooth
A taste, texture, a pick up line. Anything as long as it's smooth.I actually saw this idea AGES ago on Tumblr but never got round to writing it. Now here's my chance! It is very very very short unfortunately and a bit crap ... but hopefully it'll make someone smile :)
Nikki sat upright under the duvet, her laptop balanced on her lap. She was reading the news, an article linking to their latest case. Something to do with a big business owner losing a lot of money. It was going over her head a bit. She was tired, and all she could think about was pushing her head back against the pillow and drifting off to sleep. It was getting late after all, so Nikki decided it was a good idea to stop staring at the screen. She closed the laptop and placed it on the ground next to her, reaching for the cup of coffee on her bedside table.
Jack walked into the room at that very moment, pulling his shirt over his head, revealing the muscle underneath. He stretched as he walked over to his side of the bed, a wide yawn appearing on his face. Nikki took a sip of her drink, a smile on her face, eyes trailing up and down his body.
"Yeah, being that attractive must be tiring for you," she said, catching Jack's attention.
Jack grinned, rolling onto the duvet next to her and shuffling up close. Nikki put her mug down, moving so that she was lying beside him.
"Well you must be absolutely exhausted," Jack whispered, causing Nikki to laugh out loud. He pulled her close, pressing a kiss to her lips.
"You flirt," she replied, still giggling, Jack stopping her laughter with another kiss. When they broke apart, there was a brief silence, Jack's hand stroking Nikki's hip, Nikki amused in her thoughts.
"Have any of those cheesy pick up lines actually worked for you?" she asked him, a glint in her eye.
"You just laughed at one."
"But I already love you, so I don't count. I'm talking about in an attempt to pick up a girl."
Jack pondered for a while, trying to pick out a story that had relevance.
"Back at uni..." he started, glancing at Nikki who was already trying her best not to laugh, "I told a girl that she was so sweet she could put Galaxy out of business."
"That's the worst one yet!" Nikki scoffed, struggling to catch a breath of air.
"Oi, I was very drunk and I got a drink thrown in my face as a result."
"You deserve it after that monstrosity." another giggle fell from Nikki's lips, "If you'd said that to me when we first met I'd have run in the opposite direction."
"We should both be glad I didn't then," Jack chuckled, glancing at his girlfriend with a smile. Nikki returned it, as Jack placed a kiss on her nose.
"So," Nikki said, "the answer to my question is indeed no, you haven't managed to get a girl with your shit pick up lines."
"I'm afraid so," Jack replied with a grin.
