"Would you say that your son was rebellious?" Detective Roosevelt asks.

I've come to learn that people who are rebellious are people who are broken; who seeks trouble because the only thing they're used to is chaos, it's comfortable, its home. I'll like to believe that rebellions are just lost humans who want attention even if it's not the good kind of attention. If you're rebiilous without a cause then you're just a dick, period.

My mother crossed her legs before flipping her hair. She lets out a light chuckle, "Yes" She answers. I felt her eyes on me "Both of them" She says. My mother clears her throat before continuing, "They're rebellious to an extent, and they never crossed the line."

Detective Roosevelt seems confused about her choice of words, she raises her eyebrow "What do you mean by that, Ma'am?" She asks.

"Read between the lines, darling"

Roosevelt hums while writing down whatever in her notepad. "Where were you that night?" She finally raises her head to meet my mother's eyes.

"In the comfort of my home"

"Did you have any company?"

Mother nods, "My husband and daughter." She lied. I wondered if Dad already spoke to her about this.

"Is that all?" Roosevelt asks.

If she answers incorrectly that's my ass, also Ty and Wayne's.

I don't know if my mother picked up on my uncomfortable presence besides her or if my parents already told each other what to say.

My mother shook her head, "Oh, how can I forget?" A liar has no memory, mother...that's how you can forget. "My daughter's friends were also here." She smiles.

I don't know if they were actually saving my ass or theirs. The lies were now getting worse, what if the truth finally reveals? It's interesting how the lies were the only thing keeping us afloat

Detective hums, "Your husband mentioned Jelani's girlfriend, and do you perhaps know her?"

Beyoncé.

I can tell you all about her, from her seductive ways to her gorgeous body.

My mind shift back to last night. I wasn't intoxicated and neither was her. The sex was out of this fucking world but the truth she brought to light was too.

She knows what happened that night, she admitted to being a part of what took place that night.

How can I fuck her after hearing the harsh truth? How can I fuck her after learning she's my brother's ex-girlfriend and also had parts in his death?

Maybe I am broken like Lauren said, because the guilt from last night has not settled in and I don't think it will.

My mother puckers her lips while shaking her head. "I'm afraid not, I don't recall him having a girlfriend" She lied.

I really do hope the saying 'What's done in the dark will come to light" because if that saying is true then I am utterly fucked alongside everyone who told a lie without second guessing themselves.

You would think because this death is so close to home that we will spill everything just to get justice for our loved one. Of course that's not the case with the Maraj's, they did everything but tell the truth and the truth is what determines the justice.

"That's strange. You said you shared a close bond with your son, why did he not introduce his girlfriend to you?" Detective asks.

Why am I even here again? I should be at school.
