Huge thank you to @PaulaHartmann04  for the votes :)

I woke up to Thomas screaming at something to leave. When I opened my eyes, everyone had stretched out in their sleep. Something moved under me, and I quickly flipped to the side. I hit the concrete and looked back where I was sleeping. Minho was laying there, laughing at me. "Did I scare you?" He asked in a baby voice. "I didn't know I fell asleep on you! I'm sorry." I replied and started laughing with him. "Your good." He said after we stopped laughing. "Are they gone?" Newt asked Thomas who was standing up and looking around. "Ya. I think we're safe for now. But we should get moving." Thomas replied. We all got up and got our things. (We each had grabbed a backpack from the other place) We climbed the concrete and looked over a city.

Well, I say a city, but every building was burnt and toppled. We walked down into it and walked in what used to be the streets. "What the hell happened to this place?" Frypan asked. "I don't know. It doesn't look like anyone's been here in a long time." Newt replied. "I hope the whole world is not like this." Frypan said. "Woah, woah, woah. Hang on stop." I said.

Everyone all turned around to look at me. "Do you hear that?" I asked. We all got quiet and listened. You could faintly hear helicopter blades whirling. The same ones that we were rescued with, but bigger. "Get down! Everybody hide!" I yelled once I realized that Janson was coming for us. We all got under a slab of knocked-over concrete. We all stayed low until three helicopters, one huge one, and two small ones passed. "They are never going to stop looking for us. Are they?" Minho asked. I thought about what he said earlier, about how he was scared to end up like the other people. I knew he wanted to act brave, but was secretly scared. I know the feeling, I do it. I looked at him, and he was looking out after the helicopters. He looked back at me, and I could see the fear in his eyes. I quietly grabbed his hand and gently squeezed it comfortingly. He looked down at our hands and squeezed mine back before looking back up at me with a slight smile.

We all got out of the concrete and kept walking. Once we got out of the city, we climbed a sand dune. It's harder than you think. I would look behind me and see that Winston was behind us all, and I felt bad. I don't know what those things did to him, but nothing good. When we got to the top of the sand dune, we looked at the mountains that we were heading to. They were so far away, I could hardly see them. "Those mountains, they gotta be it. That's where we're going." Thomas said and pointed to the far-off mountains. "That's a long way off." Newt commented. "We better get moving." Thomas replied before we all started going. Just before we could take a couple of steps, Winston fell down into the sand. "Winston!" We all yelled and ran up to him. I held his head up so it wasn't in the sand, and he was breathing super heavily.

"He's pretty bad." Thomas noted. No duh. "What do we do?" Teresa asked. Thomas stood up. He walked away and came back with a couple of sticks and some fabric. We made a sort of cot for Winston and put him on it, and Minho and Frypan carried him. We passed many dead cities, and the bad wind started to pick up and blow sand in our faces, leaving little stings. I pulled my jacket up to my face to cover it. I looked over and saw everyone struggling, Minho and Frypan the most. "We have to find shelter." I finally said. Everyone agreed, and we soon found a buried building thing that provided shade.

We all got under it and sat Winston down. I sat in between Minho and Frypan and took off my shoes, along with Frypan, to get the sand out before putting them back on. Our water was already running out, so when Minho offered me a bottle telling me I needed to drink some, I only made it look like I took a sip, without taking one before I handed it back to him. Thomas had gone off to look at the mountains after a while, and Teresa went after him. I watched them talk for a while, and rested my head in Minho's shoulder out of exhaustion. "How's it looking?" Newt called to them after a while of him glaring at Teresa. "Only a little bit further." Thomas yelled back. Although I could tell by his voice he was lying. "Well, that's not very convincing." Newt said once he turned around and sat down. Minho put his arm around me, carefully avoiding my arms which were still very sore. Before leaning us both back onto the wall behind us after a while. I looked back up at Thomas and Teresa, and they looked like they were arguing. I then looked at Newt and saw him already looking back at them.

Me and Newt may not be the closest, but we are getting closer. I still consider him a good friend, a brother. I'd risk my life for him just as much as I'd do anyone else here. A second later, I heard a gunshot. I quickly jumped up out of Minho's arm and looked over. Winston has the gun in his hand, aimed towards himself. I quickly ran over and grabbed the gun out of his hand. "What are you doing?" I asked sincerely before Thomas came running over.
