I frowned, kissing my teeth as I peered down at the lined up soldiers, who were devoting their hearts to humanity. Standing up tall, not wanting to be picked out as weak. Commander Shadis walked through the neat file to inspect each of their faces.

He hummed, shooting glances here and there. Eyeing random people up and down to see if they would break under his gaze. I could see the fulfillment in his eyes as he paved through the lines. I huffed and leaned against the wooden fence with a sigh.

"Shadis is the same as ever, huh?" Hange commented, glancing at the people beneath us with excitement.

We had to stand on the hill for the moment until the protocol was over. Which I didn't really mind. Looking over them was way better than human interactions. I was pretty sure none of them knew who I was. All they knew was probably Levi, Humanity's strongest. I didn't mind, I knew in the back of my mind, I could have Levi in tears as he tries to escape from me.

Mike walked over next to me. "He really didn't."

I ignored the small talk and glanced at the rising sun with a frown. Seeing how hot it was out here today. At least we stood underneath the shades, in the shadows. The trees mostly covered the sunlight for us. Unfortunately, the trainees didn't have that privilege. They stood there in the heat at the most hottest time of the day. Slowly, I slipped into my own world. That was until Erwin started talking. Another unusual thing, he doesn't talk much to other people, unless if it's about politics or else he wouldn't state his opinion.

"Yeah." He cleared his throat, "Let's go down now. I think they're done."

Hange slipped ahead. I guess she couldn't contain their excitement. Moblit chase after them, he had to sprint to be by their side. Mike pushed me, sensing the hesitation in my steps. I frowned, with my eyes I asked Erwin for his help. But he just shook his head, chuckling at me. Now thinking about it, he wasn't really a good commander. Doesn't even help his second in command.

Dragging my feet on the ground. Mike decided that he finally had enough and picked me up. I groaned as he smirked with satisfaction as we walked down to the field. Levi was frowning, like always. Walking behind Mike and in front of Erwin. His eyes fell on me. And I took this chance to wink at him, secretly chuckling at the pink tint that dusted his cheeks as he tried to hide it by looking away.

Punching Mike's chest gently. He got the message and allowed me to hop out of his arms. I rolled my eyes, muttering on how his tall for nothing ass was useless. He heard it and ruffled up my hair quite harshly. Just a way to try to provoke me further. Smacking his hand away, I glanced over at the sound of incoming footsteps.

Shadis saluted at Erwin. The blond did the same. I sighed, watching Hange, Mike, and Moblit salute at him too, even Levi obeyed his command with little to no hesitation. Their eyes fell on me as I just stared back at Shadis. It was deadly silent.
