"Miyako, can we talk?"
Miyako lifted her head up off the pillow in her bed, looking over to the dark eyes of Sasuke. He stood, looking almost uncomfortable. Itachi was out, doing a mission for the Akatsuki "leader" Pein. It left her and Ainu alone with Team Hebi and Hisoka, as well as the women and toddlers in the basement.
"What's up, Sasuke?" Miyako questioned as she sat up, gesturing for her to join her in the room.
He walked in a shut the door leading into the room, looking around briefly before sitting down on Itachi's side of the bed.
"I heard wind of Tobi's plans for Konohagakure. He plans on getting Pein to attack them by the week's end," Sasuke stated, a frown on his face.
Miyako raised an eyebrow in surprise. "It almost sounds like you're worried for them."
"You and Itachi convinced me that it wasn't the civilian's fault when it came to the massacre. That it was the fault of the higher-ups, the elders of the village. It doesn't sit right with me that innocent people will be killed in the attack... nor does it sit right with me that the damn elders might be disposed of before I get my chance," Sasuke explained, a frown on his face.
Miyako hummed in agreement, already trying to figure out the best way to get the word out to Tsunade-sama about the attack without bringing too much attention to herself. Ever since Itachi had left two days ago – they had been at the base for a week by then – Hisoka has been trying to make moves on Miyako. It's why she spent her time cooped up in her room. Hisoka was ultimately watching her like a hawk.
"Why is the attack coming so soon?" Miyako asked as the door opened and revealed Hisoka.
"Because Pein has killed the sannin Jiraiya," Hisoka replied, a smirk on his lips. "He's been a pain in our neck for quite some time, especially with those spies of his."
Miyako sneered and stood up, glaring at the man. "Jiraiya-sama was a great man! He wouldn't have got taken down so easily!"
"You're right. Took a couple of Pein's bodies down with him. He managed to send a message back to Konohagakure before he died. Wonder what it says," Hisoka stated.
Sasuke stood up and glared at his clanmate. "You... stay away from Miyako."
"You think you can take me, Sasuke? If I want, I could have Mi-chan right now," Hisoka stated with narrowed eyes.
Miyako scoffed. "You caught me off guard last time, Hisoka. Not this time."
"Last time you didn't have a weakness in a one-year-old kid," Hisoka snapped.
Miyako glared at him with her blue eyes. "You wouldn't touch her."
"And what makes you say that?"
"You respect me too much. The old Hisoka, the one not twisted with hate, is still in there. He wouldn't let you kill – or even harm – a defenceless child," Miyako stated confidently.
Hisoka scoffed before turning his back and leaving the room.
"I don't trust him," Sasuke warned.
Miyako nodded in agreement, before turning to face Sasuke. "What are you going to do about your children?"
"I'm trying to work out a plan on getting them and the mothers out of here. But I don't know where we can take them to protect them," Sasuke frowned, looking back at Miyako.
Miyako chewed on her lips for a second before nodding to herself. "I could ask my summons to take them and Ainu to their realm. No one can get in without permission from the head falcon."
Sasuke looked surprised. "And Ainu?"
"I have this feeling that something bad is coming. Something big and bad. I want to be able to defend those I care about, and if that means taking Ainu to a place away from my sight to protect her, I will. Besides, your children's mothers will be there, surely they can look after one more."
Sasuke wasn't sure how to respond to Miyako's declaration. He has never seen her look so serious, not even when she first fell pregnant or when he left for Orochimaru's. It was then that Sasuke realised the true gravity of the situation.
"Ask them. If we can get our children safe from Tobi and Hisoka, we'll have more freedom of movement," Sasuke agreed, making Miyako nod as she summoned one of her falcons.
"Miyako-sama, how can I help?"
"Can you ask Asami-sama if she'd be willing to house my daughter and nieces and nephews along with their parents for the foreseeable future?"
The bird looked surprised. "Why? What's going on?"
"A storm. A big one. I believe war is on its way, and I need to be there to fight... to protect," Miyako replied and the bird frowned, before nodding and disappearing.
Sasuke and Miyako waited for ten minutes before the same falcon returned. It meets Miyako's gaze with its golden eyes. "Asami-sama has agreed. She said that Ko-sama and Arata-sama can sense the change in the air. To protect those close to you, she will do anything."
The bird leant forward and handed Miyako a scroll. "A reverse summoning scroll. Make sure everyone is connected before activating it. Good luck, Miyako-sama, Sasuke-san."
The bird vanished again, leaving the scroll behind. Miyako grabbed the scroll. She Sasuke's gaze, before nodding as he picked up the sleeping Ainu and they made their way through the hideout and towards the basement, where they were lucky to have avoided Hisoka.
The trio entered the room, and the women with the five children looked up in surprise.
"Uchiha-sama, how can we help?" the eldest of the women questioned.
"You are going to the Falcon Realm with the children. War is coming, and we wish to keep the children out of it," Sasuke explained bluntly, the women's eyes widening.
"The falcons will get what you need. They'll also protect you," Miyako explained as she unravelled the scroll and placed it on the ground. "I need you to hold Ainu and place a hand on the scroll each. Will the children listen?"
"Yes, they're well behaved, Shinjitsu-sama," the younger women replied as Miyako handed her Ainu – who was starting to stir from the movements going on around her.
The older woman barked some orders to the five toddlers, all of whom put their hands on the scroll followed by the two women. Miyako did the hand signs and the scroll activated, the children and two women vanishing in a flash of bright light.
Right after the light vanished the door to the room banged open and Hisoka charged in, looking around frantically before noting that the only two present in the room were Sasuke and Miyako.
"What did you do?" Hisoka growled out.
"Sent the women and the children somewhere safe. Away from you and Tobi," Miyako replied firmly, standing tall and watching as rage-filled Hisoka's eyes.
"You have no idea what you just did! You two are foolish! When Tobi hears wind of this..." Hisoka growled before storming out of the room, summoning a wolf as he went.
"Miyako, did we do the right thing?" Sasuke question, worry in his voice for his niece and children.
Miyako frowned. "Yes. We'll take whatever punishment comes at us for this."
