"You know, Steve. Sometimes, it just feels like you're already dead despite still being here. I no longer hear your voice, I don't get any pokes on Facebook. Nor does anyone respond to my stupid voicemails but still I continue with this bullshit in hopes that maybe, just maybe, I'll get a call back. Just one word from you, Steve, one word. And I'll have hope again that you might make it."
She gave a broken chuckle and my chest tightened.
"It's not too much to ask, is it?"
