Moments- One Direction
I was watching Spencer trying his best not to seem awkward as Daniel tugged him around the flat. Samantha came up beside me, passing me a mug of tea.
"So, you want any little ones?" she asked.
"One day... have to actually get engaged first," I replied, redness creeping up my face.
"Yes, I've heard. That is exactly why Daniel and I are pulling you two out onto the terrace! Time to go," she giggled.
"What-"
I felt her hand circle around my wrist as she pulled me across the flat's living room. My feet were desperately trying to keep up with hers. In a few, short moments, I found myself standing in front of Daniel, Michael, and Spencer.
"Michael, I am trying to tell you that I am not prepared for this," Spencer whispered quietly, his tone nervous and rushed.
"Shut up, ya twit. She loves you. You can't make any more of a fool of yourself," Michael chuckled.
Spencer's cheeks flushed deeply. He looked at me, then averted his eyes to the city below. Michael came up to me and gave me a toothy grin.
"Good luck. I think he may vomit on you," he teased, giving me a wink.
I watched him scoop up the now sleepy Daniel and lightly nudged his wife to follow him. They proceeded to leave, closing the large door behind them.
"Spencie?" I asked, trying to use the horrid nickname I had often used in late night talks.
"You're pulling out the 'Spencie' guns? Jessica, you're making me incredibly nervous," he replied.
I let out a small laugh, sitting down beside him. I heard him mumble something.
"Pardon, Spence?" I asked, putting my hand on his knee.
"'The scariest moment is always just before you start.' Stephen King," he replied.
I smiled. I had always loved how he would tell me quotes. He hadn't been doing it lately, for I was always tired or at work, and he was always tired or at work. We were too busy, but there, in that moment, time was freezing. The clocks stopped ticking, the music was slowing, and it was just Spencer and I on a family of strangers' balcony.
"This is going to come out crazy and non sequential but I am begging you to bear with me and attempt your hardest to keep along with all of my random muttering and tangents," he asked.
I nodded, watching him carefully as he cleared his throat and sort through his thoughts. I knew a proposal was coming. I just wasn't sure how it was coming, or when for that matter.
"You have been through many traumatic experiences, and there are moments during your everyday life where you will avoid talking about your childhood. Even if it a brief mention, you will basically refuse to talk about it. Since I has been around more, your mood has improved. You do not cry as often, which I would never judge you on, and you seem to have just become a happier person. That moment, the night I had that nightmare... the night you held me in your arms and it was my turn to cry, I knew I couldn't be without you anymore.
"I have been contemplating on how to do this properly. I have been searching nice ways to do it, romantic ways to do it, unique ways to do it... but none of them screamed out 'you.' I know you as well as you'll let me, and I feel as if I am one of the people you are the most open with. You never try to avoid things with me. Remember the time we went to that clothing store are you- never mind. Tangent. Reset.
"I had an amazing, romantic night planned for us... but being here with these people and seeing the city this late at night has made me realize that it doesn't have to be a crazy proposal, it just has to be from the heart."
I saw Spencer get down on one knee, a shy smile on his blushing face.
"I know I'm weird and like weird things. But, I know that I love you, Jessica, and I know you already said yes to me... but," he opened the ring box, "will you marry me?"
"Of course, you fucking goofball! I love you so much," I replied, happy tears streaming down my face.
I dropped down onto my knees, allowing him to slip the beautiful, elegant ring onto my finger. I pulled him into a hug, burrowing my face into his shoulder. I was officially engaged...
I was going to marry Dr. Spencer Reid.
