What am I going to do!? First I've gotta call Dad, but then what!? I can't just sit back and wait. I've got to do something! Thoughts swarmed in Brian's mind. He called his dad, then tried the police. The police didn't answer, so he tried again. Still no answer. C'mon I have good signal! What's going on!? Brian kept calling, but still no answer. On the 5th call, he gave up. He ran outside and to the hospital at full speed.

Brian arrived at his mother's hospital bed with his father by her side. "Dad what do I do!? The police aren't answering any calls!" Brian stated frantically. His father mumbled to his wife about something, and then turned to Brian.

"Son, listen to me. ...It's about your mother. The smoke from the explosion has gotten into your mother's lungs and she-" He paused for a moment and took a deep breath. "She has gotten an incurable and deadly disease. I must stay by her side. I'm sorry to do this to you, but..." Brian's father handed him something. "I need you to start your journey, and get back your sister for our family."

Brian's eyes were tearing up. How could this happen!? First Steph, then Mom!? This can't get any worse! Brian looked at what his father had given him. A purple pokéball marked with an M. A master ball. "Dad, what's in this pokéball? People don't use master balls on just any Pokémon." His father managed to get out a slight grin and said, "You'll just have to go and see for yourself. Go, Brian. Make us proud and save Stephanie." Brian hesitantly nodded, said a long farewell to his parents and left the hospital.

Brian arrived back in Striaton City, gathered his things, and began his adventure. Wait, Brian thought. I need to see what's in this master ball! Brian swung his arm back, threw the master ball, and out came a blue and tan horse-like pokémon, with an orange mane and a horn. It was a Keldeo! The Keldeo looked at Brian, ran over, and nuzzled his nose against Brian's face. "Hey there! I'm Brian; your new trainer," Brian happily exclaimed. Keldeo's face was beaming. I've got to go visit the professor for a pokédex, then my journey really begins! Brian hopped onto Keldeo's back and started riding down to Nuvema town.

On the way to Nuvema Town, there was a sightly larger town called Accumula Town. When Brian and Keldeo arrived there, Brian hopped off Keldeo and they stopped at a Pokémon center. Halfway there. Just a little bit longer. While the new trainer and his new pokémon were at the Pokémon center, they bought some Pokéballs so they could catch some pokémon.

Soon, the duo arrived in Nuvema Town. They entered the Pokémon lab. "Brian! How good to see you," said Professor Juniper. "Is that a Keldeo? Wow, I've never seen one in real life before... Oh, anyway your father called me and told me everything. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister and mother. I've prepared your town map, your running shoes, and your pokédex, so now you're all ready." Brian took a minute to take in all the loudmouth professor had just said. "Thanks, professor. I'll keep in touch on my Xtranciever. I better get going before noon because I have long way to go," Brian said. The professor and the trainer said their goodbyes and Brian left. Brian hopped onto Keldeo and officially began his journey in the Unova Reigon.
