That night after everyone had released their lanterns and were heading towards the permanent shops for blessing shopping and then head home, Li Yan pestered the Xie siblings to stay at the manor which Xie Yun politely but sternly refused. He didn't want unnecessary emotions on this day and who knew what kind of people were there.
They gathered their things and after a critical glance at the stall, returned to the forest. Throughout the journey, Liying kept stealing glances at her brother who hadn't said a word about the absent utensils but Xie Yun kept his eyes ahead on the path. It was past hai shi and they needed to reach home as soon as possible to avoid trouble.
After they had freshened up and Xie Yun was busy preparing the feast or just adding the last ingredients and cooking them, Liying spoke " Ge...." "Hmm.." " You...are you not angry ?" " Why would I be ?" " Uh...I.." " So, where did the utensils go ?"
Damn her brother was sharp.
Liying shifted her eyes sideways, thinking whether to spill or drill. The answer was easy though, she knew that lying won't do her any good.
So she told Xie Yun how the masked man had appeared again, this time with a request of food, how he even paid more without any protest when Liying had obviously charged him more than what was appropriate..." A Ying!" " But ge...he paid! " When she told him about the utensils, Xie Yun raised a delicate eyebrow as if asking her whether she was making up things or was it really the truth.
After several questions and glares later,the Xie siblings were seated near the brazier for the dinner, Xie Yun fresh out of bath and slurping noodles while Liying devoured her share of egg curry. Her brother made the best curries and no one could fight her on that, she made sure. The dishes ranged from spicy, veg, meat to sweet, plain and easy dishes like numbing lamb noodles soup, yangchun noodles, vegetable noodle soup, spicy vegetable balls with thick gravy, chicken herbs soup and steamed fish with some fried small fishes.
