I took the child with me to Jujutsu Tech after buying her things that she will need. She immediately hid behind me when my friends approached me.
"Y/N!!! The results are out! Have you checked yours? I passed!" Yuji said while showing me the screen of his phone.
"Hm? That's good to hear!" I said, trying to match his energy.
The little girl tried to peek from behind. I saw the eyes of my friends widened.
"Don't tell me that this is the surprise you're talking about? You already have a child?" Yuji asked again, shocked.
I carried the girl in my arms while she buried her face on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry. Can I take her to my room first?" I said and started walking.
"Baby, I'll carry her," Toge said.
The child gripped my shirt tightly. I sighed and looked at Toge. I shook my head and told him to hold the paper bags instead.
*
After I changed her clothes into clean and comfortable ones, she fell asleep.
"Who is she?" Toge asked.
"I don't know. I bumped into her, and she reminded me of my old self. I promised her that I'd take care of her, Toge."
"We'll do that, okay. We will take care of her. I will be with you, love."
"Can you please look after her for a while? I need to go somewhere. I need to talk to someone."
He nodded, understanding the situation immediately.
*
I sighed while looking at the door in front of me. I knocked once, and when I heard a signal, I entered the office of the higher-up that I met yesterday.
A pair of piercing eyes immediately landed on me.
"What do you need? Don't waste my time," the lady said.
I told her about my concern and what I want: about the child and everything.
"A child? Do you even know what you're saying? No!" She yelled sternly.
"But isn't it the same with what happened to me years ago? You took me in!"
She slapped me, but I immediately looked back at her. No, I won't back down now. I will fight for the child.
"Don't make me regret my decision! We raised you perfectly. No, that's wrong. I raised you perfectly to be the next Satoru, to fit the title of an heir! So, don't you ever compare the situation back then!"
"It is the same! And I am not your robot."
I don't know where I got the courage to answer her like this.
"You're dismissed. You can't change my mind."
I stared at her for a while, then bowed down on my knees.
"Please. I will do everything you want me to do. I won't complain anymore. I will accept all your punishment, just like before. Just let me keep her, please," I pleaded, crying on my knees.
I waited for the impact when I saw that she would kick me, but the door that connects to the other room flung open.
"Akumu, that's enough," the voice of the old man thundered inside the room, calling her daughter.
"No! She didn't learn her lesson yet!"
"Just let her be! She suffered enough. Y/N, stand up," the man ordered me.
I stood up and greeted him.
"Good day, Chairman. Sorry for the commotion that I made."
"No, Y/N. It's okay. I hope you'll understand my daughter. She only wants what's the best for you."
"Best? I'm sorry, Chairman, but I don't quite get what you are saying. Your daughter gave me traumas. She is the reason why I need to visit a Psychiatrist every damn month. She's the reason why I have to take medicines to keep myself sane. And you're telling me that she did everything for my sake?" I questioned him.
"Y/N, she did what she thinks is right. She wanted to make you strong enough to fight for yourself, to complete you."
"But I am a human too. Do you remember when she sent me alone on a mission when I was seven? I almost died. If my Dad didn't arrive that day, do you think I am here in front of you, pleading for a child? I don't think so. If you want to complete me, please let me take care of the child. Maybe she'll fill up the void inside me."
The Chairman was about to say something, but the lady stopped him.
"Dad, that's enough."
She then looked at me.
"Do whatever you want. Just don't leave the Jujutsu Society ever. Be stronger so you can achieve the revenge you've been seeking. And just like before, don't say anything to Satoru or I'll throw that child out!"
She turned her back on me. Does this mean that I am already free?
I immediately went out and ran back to my room.
Toge immediately stood up and hugged me as soon as I entered the room.
"How did it go?" He asked; the concern is very evident on his face.
"They... They let me," I said, still unsure of what is happening.
I saw the child in my bed, rubbed her eyes, and then sat up. She roamed her eyes in the unfamiliar place.
I immediately went beside her.
"Hi! Do you remember me? I'm sorry, I forgot to ask your name a while ago. What's your name, darling?" I asked her.
Her eyes softened by the sight of a familiar person.
"Ayumi. My name is Ayumi."
"Ayumi, from now on, you'll live with me, okay?"
"Then, does that mean that you are my mom now?"
I was shocked because of her question. My eyes were filled with tears. I am so happy.
"Hm, if it's okay with you," I said, slowly nodding my head.
Ayumi wrapped her little arms around me, and I heard her sobs.
"Mommy. I have a mommy again!"

Note: Sorry for the lame chapter! I've been binge-watching Law School on Netflix, and it's stressing me out. (+ Our enrollment for the next sem is already starting)
And I'm sorry if you are really not fond of the child. It has always been my dream to have my own (Yep, I'm just 20, I know, but I'm not planning on getting one rn. Maybe in the future, and an adopted one).
