POV Narrator:

The contrasts between living in the Cavendish family residence and the McLaren family residence were very clear, while on one side freedom was something the girls could barely have, on the other side it was something that was practically normal in the house. This huge contrast was already being very well noticed by Bernadette Cavendish who was waiting until the day she would be free from the torment that was living in that place, she had been grounded for days and days just because of a silly argument she had with her mother about what Paul Hanbridge and the Appleton boys had tried to harass the girl, just because she was defending herself, it was enough to be stuck in her room for a long time with nothing to do.

In these two she received hidden visits from Rosemary who delivered a letter from Laura about how her days at home were, she always said they were wonderful, but the one extra thing she missed a lot, was always Bernadette, McLaren could be living very well in her family's residence, but what completed to make her happy was the presence of Cavendish, she every day more and more felt the need to go away, so much so that she sent a letter to the Irishwoman answering her back, Morris practically became the mail of the two girls at that moment.

Sunday December 20, 1987

Bernadette was waking up from a normal morning like any other, being forced to stay locked in her own room until Christmas day arrived, to review all her behavior, the girl was already getting sick of it all, she couldn't stand it anymore, it had been two weeks since her only communication was through Rosemary sneaking into her room and once in a while Clarie going to see her daughter to make sure she wasn't running away or something like that, no one but the Cavendish mother was allowed to enter that room, not even grandmother Isabella, afraid of being beaten by her own daughter who was not a weak witch.

POV Bernadette:

16 days... I've been a prisoner in this place for 16 days now. Where has all that Bernadette gone who was strong and determined for all these 3 months, the Bernadette that Laura helped so much to become like this... Laura... How could I have just let go of all that time she spent to leave me someone more imposing, someone who doesn't lower her head to anything, all that was played for nothing.... No! I will not allow this to continue! I am the witch blessed by the power of the Diana Cavendish trinity, I am the chosen one! I will not let myself be brought down like this! Today is the last day my mother leaves me like this! Know that I will no longer bow my head to any of your orders, just because you think it's right... While I was reflecting alone thinking about this shit, I was soon greeted by Rose who entered through the window of my room... This girl is what has been saving me all these days.

- Rose! - I say, walking towards her, who has put her jacket on the clothes stand.

- I have arrived and I already have one more letter from Laura, besides that she sent me to tell me that she feels strong feelings for you, she doesn't hide anything else... That girl is barely waiting to go back to Luna Nova again and she's a little angry, wanting to face the beast right away, but I told her not to do that and just wait - Rose said handing me the envelope.

- Really don't let her face the beast head on, because I will, my mother will no longer treat me like this, I will leave here! And I will stand up to her! Know that today I'll be leaving home... Rose... Can I stay at your place? I will stay just a single night and then leave - I say to Rose putting my hand on her shoulder which just changes to a more serious expression.

- I'll let you, but be careful with these risks Bern, she's your mother, don't do anything stupid, but know that I'll be waiting for you to take you to my house, the address is here - she said, giving me a map from my house to hers, which I quickly folded and put away.
