Years had gone by since Laura and Bernadette met, many things happened in the lives of these two girls, in 1987 they met in Luna Nova and in the end of that year they started dating, after a huge mess in the home of the Scottish girl's family that faced her mother who was all intolerant, everything for a freedom that she always fought for, where McLaren was the person for which made this girl's feeling go to the surface of wanting a freedom. In 1990 they graduate and try their luck in the Cavendish family's chief ritual where in 1991 she succeeds and after a troubled ritual that also had the unfortunate fact that Clarie Cavendish ended up dying because of that ritual, for interfering and showing that she wasn't worthy of that place, that year was where the two of them also found out about the stone in the shoe that would be Daryl Cavendish, which almost made the sister to be arrested and indirectly was the responsible for the deaths of Clarie, Marie and Amelia. After all this Laura and Bernadette get married in 1992 where was the year that they celebrated 5 years of dating, with this officially married and together the two finally could always be together, even if they were separated by some fate's work, events that happened that the couple went through some moments of fights, good moments, diseases, ups and downs, everything always overcoming and understanding each other. The two girls had a connection that was enviable really, they didn't let themselves be taken by what other people said about the two being a lesbian couple and not even by Daryl who always said the most absurd things to let the two girls down. This didn't stop them at all, so much so that the year they would be 10 years apart was 1997.

In both of their lives things were going very well, with Bernadette working as a doctor in several areas, she was the best in pediatrics, and the children loved Dr. Cavendish, since she always had a way to cheer up the poor children that sometimes were afraid of needles, she also worked from time to time in deliveries, since she was getting ready for a possible delivery of her or her wife that would happen in a matter of time, since both of them were very excited about using the fertility stone. Laura's broom racing career was paying off for her by winning two titles in a row for Scuderia Carlucci in 1995 and 1996, the last one being the most dominant title in the history of the World Broom Racing Championship when she managed to win every race in the season, a record never done before. For 1997, Laura decided to go to a team she had always dreamed of, and a £50 million contract caught the Irishwoman's attention. The Victoria team, which was from the country itself known for its extremely fast brooms and one of the most traditional teams on the grid, was the second team with the most wins in the entire history of the World Broom Racing Championship. In the 1997 season, she was still using her own self-made broom, but as the year went on she adjusted it, but even so it didn't stop her from showing extreme finesse and skill on her broom to win victories. Even so she collected victory after victory having only one retirement in Sweden, until then arriving to Canada with 75 Points, that was already a lot in relation to the 58 Points of the teammate Janice Berger, but that was because Laura developed the broom of the Victoria team race after race and left Janice with the most reliable brooms, showing that she didn't care if she lost a race or another. This all leading up to winning her fourth World Broom Racing Championship.

She had read that book many times and dedicated the time to develop that thing because she knew that one day she would have to use it against Bernadette and Laura with the intention of separating the two of them once and for all. This time she didn't have the Hanbridge's funding anymore, she didn't have anything else to do to take advantage of and make money, she only had her reserve and she supported her daughters with Bernadette's money, which was only to be used to take care of the girls, such as education, clothes, food, toys, despite everything the elder Cavendish still made sure to give the best to her nieces, because she wanted the girls to become better than their mother, although they were very bitter when they found out that Paul wasn't the father of the two little ones. Even more with Daryl's influence that was not a good thing, the girls were starting to enter the age where they would be easily influenced and Daryl also wanted to get rid of Laura and Bernadette soon because despite everything the two had fun with their aunts, Laura whenever she could gave them amazing toys and took them both for walks in fun places.
