Hey Guys!
THIS IS THE BACKGROUND CHAPTER FOR THIS SERIES!!
So I am currently on a plane to see my grandpa and my step-grandma. I have never met my step-grandma, so I'm kinda scared.
This next one is a request, and I don't have WIFI rn, so I can't see your comment, but you know who you are.
This oneshot to this series is only a background and more will be explained further in later parts to this story. Please keep in mind that this is not going to completely follow the comics or movies because this is a fan fic and I am changing it a bit to fix my ideas.
Feel free to request, I do my best to do them all, but it may take a while as I am working on several things at once. I love seeing your guys comments, and it makes my day when someone votes<3
SHIPS: Gwen x Peter (is mentioned but is not actually in this story) Pila (Peter x Lila Barton) Pepperony, Claura, Brutasha.

Now, sorry for the long A/N,
On With The Story!
———————————-Background: No one POV:
Peter and Lila have always been friends. It sort of comes with being the only kids in the Avengers family (other than Lila's siblings of course). They were inseparable from a young age, having more than just their age in common, and leaning on each other when they didn't know if their dads were safe.
Both Lila and Peter started to feel more than friendship, holding back on telling the other for fear that they would ruin their friendship.
When Peter first discovered his powers, he panicked. He thought that everyone should hate him, and see him as a freak. He saw the effect superheroing had on his mom when his dad went out, as well as knowing first hand what it feels like to worry about your loved ones. He also thought that his parents wouldn't support it for this reason, but he also saw the effect his families sacrifices had on the world. The world needs the Avengers, it needs supers, but who saves the little guys? Sure the Avengers solve the big stuff, but who takes care of the little robberies and muggings?
Eventually, he found that his urge to save people was worth more than consequences he would get if his parents found out. He loves his parents and would do anything for his family, but he thought it could do more harm than good if he didnt use his powers at all.
He came to this conclusion after he had been walking home from school one day, about a week after he discovered his powers, and heard a gunshot. He took out his headphones, and started looking around, seeing if he could help anyone. As he looks around, he sees a man with a gun run off from the scene. When he goes to run after the man, he notices a man on the ground. He stops by the man and sees that he was shot by the robber. He kneels down to the ground and tries to stop the blood flow as he was taught by his Aunt Nat. He calls for help, and someone calls 911, but Peter can tell that is was too late, and tries to talk to the man one more time.
"Sir! Sir, you are going to be okay. You hear me? You are going to be okay!" He says, hysterically. "What is your name?"
"B-b-enjamin. C-call m-me b-Ben." The man replies hoarsely.
"Okay, Ben, you are going to be okay, you hear that noise? That's an ambulance, you are going to be okay."
"N-n-o. I-it's my t-time to go. J-just remember, kid: w-with great power, c-comes great r-responsibility."
"No! Hold on, sir! Everything will be okay. HELP! HELP ME, HE'S DYING! SOMEONE HELP HIM, PLEASE! H-help." Peter tries, but by the time the medical professionals got to the scene, his pulse was already gone. Peter, not being known by the public as Peter Stark, ran home as fast as he could, trying to get the thoughts and memories of what just happened out of the way.
He gets home and goes straight to his room when he realizes that his family isn't home. He thinks about calling Lila, but decides against it as he didn't want to burden her with his problems when her dad was home with her. His thoughts spiral, and he starts thinking about how it was his fault, and how if he had just used his powers, he could have saved that man, Ben.
With great power comes great responsibility.
What does that mean?
Was it meant for me?
Did he know of my family or my powers?
If so, how could he have?
These thoughts about the last words Ben said twirled around in his mind, confusing him further.
He decided that nothing is coincidental, everything happens for a reason, and he was meant to be the one to hear these words. Because when you can do the things he can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.

Sorry for the really short chapter, this is really just setting up for a really long story that will probably be 3 or 4 chapters long.Thank you to whoever comments, votes, or requests, and I promise I will update again after I come home from my trip in a few days.
Until next time!
