Chapter 22

It had only been two days since Shiro and Keith had that talk, yet Keith was acting like a different person to the rest of the people on the ship. Shiro was of course used to his mate being clingy, it was nice to see him acting the way he would in their quarters around the rest of their friends.

This was the Keith he fell in love with.

Keith himself was nervous to see how the others would react to his change in behavior. It was a rarity for him to act like himself let alone allow himself to follow his instincts when he wasn't in the safety of his and Shiro's room.

The morning after the late night confession, Keith was a nervous wreck. He wanted to snuggle his mate, and bow his head when he felt more submissive. Being a loud boisterous alpha was tiring. He especially hated having to posture.

It always took a lot of energy not to cower especially when another alpha would posture back.

The first time he met Shiro, he stood tall and pushed his scent into the room. When Shiro, postured back, he almost immediately crumbled.

Not even thirty seconds into their first interaction, they knew that they were mates. Hiding this long enough to find a private area was imperative. They soon found themselves in Shiro's dorm, aggressively making out and not too long after cumming in their pants.

Keith promptly stormed out without even catching his breath.

That marked the start of one of the hardest weeks of Keith's life. It was extremely hard for him to stay away from Shiro due to fighting his submissive nature and the fact that all the older alpha seemed to want is to talk to him.

See, they have a significant age gap between them. Keith was only a teenager when they met while Shiro was already into his twenties. Getting off with a minor in his bedroom was not his brightest idea. This would be illegal if they weren't mates. But having sex with a minor, even if they were a mate, doesn't make it right either. Society thinks of this as mostly a grey area. You can have an opinion about it but no matter how against it the majority is, the law had other ideas.

If someone found out about the rendezvous the two had, Shiro could get kicked out of the Galaxy Garrison and shunned from society. Not to mention the fact that and alpha on alpha relationship was already a good reason for a lynching.

Shiro was mostly worries about how the rendezvous ended. Keith storming out immediately after made Shiro think that he forced himself on the younger. Even though this would later be confirmed false by Keith, at the time, Shiro thought that he had not only hurt the other, but ruined any chance he had with his destined mate.

He just wanted to make sure the newly found love of his life was okay.

Keith would later be ambushed at his dorm after Shiro waited down the hall for his roommate to leave. (Keith would later find out that he had waited 3 hours for the beta to do so.)

Keith would try to hold his ground, desperately try to be a normal alpha as he sat ridged on his bed while Shiro rambled out an apology about sexually assaulting his mate. Keith would continue not to move until he processed the fact that Shiro thought that the younger hadn't wanted it.

"I didn't mind what happened at all. I actually liked it quite a bit." He was always blunt.

Shiro practically melted, "Oh thank god! I just thought because you left so suddenly that you were upset."

"Oh. Uh, no. I just was tired and needed to leave." It wasn't technically a lie.

Shiro wasn't too convinced but didn't want to pry quite yet.
