Keith sat at the window of his and Shiro's room. He was frustrated and in need of guidance.

He absentmindedly drew patterns on his mate mark, hoping for his mate to notice the slight tingle in order to gain his attention.

Keith was off. He himself had no idea what could possibly be wrong. He had his mate back, wasn't horny and wasn't hungry. For Keith, that really meant nothing was wrong.

Shiro also felt off. He felt a tug of sorts, one that he usually would get from needing Keith.

The black paladin stood in the control room, listening to the two Alteans rant about castle defenses and war strategy. He was distractible, wanting to be somewhere else yet not knowing what it might be. It frustrated him, annoyed him to the point of excusing himself and heading back to his room.

Once the door slid open his eyes went straight to the king size bed.

Keith turned his attention to his alpha wondering why he wore such a seldom expression. It was one of disappointment which was never a good sign.

"Are you ok my alpha?" Keith had asked.

The smaller alpha didn't know how to react to Shiro being disappointed. The best way to talk to any head alpha in this sort of situation was to show respect.

Shiro let out a sigh, his gaze still locked with the king size bed.

It had black silken sheets and a mountain of pillows at the head of the bed. Keith must have done it up before leaving for breakfast that morning.

Shiro hated it. He hated the way the sheets looked crisp and untouched. How the pillows were only on one side of the mattress and none of their clothes scattered about.

Keith cleared his throat, "baby? Are you ok? You seem... off."

Shiro let out a low rumble in his chest. He was frustrated with these knew feelings. He wanted there to be a nest awaiting him when he entered the room, an omega to take care of him and Keith. An omega to protect in return.

The red paladin wrapped his arms around his mate. He himself felt the same as Shiro. He wanted pups and his clothes to go missing from the dirty laundry. He wanted to hear chirping and purrs at night along with his mates low sounds.

Shiro presses his nose to his mates neck, taking in the scent, "We are missing something aren't we?"

Keith nodded, lolling his head to the side to give the larger more room.

The alphas were unsettled by their now shared needs. They knew it would be some time before they were able to even start searching for their mate. Being thrown into a war didn't help either.

Noises from the hallway brought them out of their mated bubble, throwing them back into the reality of being stuck on a ship with three teenagers.

Hushed voices and foot falls roamed in-front of their door.

"Why do I have to ask? This was your idea!"

"Don't be such a baby! Ask them for their laundry!"

Shiro presses the control pad next to the door, watching it fly open to reveal a huddled Pidge and Hunk.

"Can I help you two?" Shiro asked, quite amused by the two betas.

Hunk and Pidge straightened out before blubbering like idiots.

"Um-"

" we uh..."

"-Need your dirty clothes!"

"Hunk what the hell? That sounds so bad!"

Shiro chuckled fondly, "Want to tell us what's going on?"

Before Hunk could dig himself a deeper grave, Pidge decided to explain.

"Well, you see, Coran asked Hunk and I to collect the laundry for washing. We could kinda tell you were having a moment in there so we were arguing about who would break it up." Pidge presented his most convincing smile.

Shiro shrugged his shoulders, sending a questioning look to Keith only to get a nod in return.

With the confirmation from his mate, Shiro handed over a few shirts and pants before sending the betas on their way.

"I told you it would work."

"Shut up ya pigeon."

The two immediately made a b-line  for Lance's room.

Once they had knocked thrice the door unlocked.

The omega had no idea what the two had planned, so when he was assaulted with the strong smell of alpha, he was a little bit more than confused.
