(A/N: Marinette gives her answer. Whether or not this is a date is discussed and Dick is excited that his little boy is growing up)

The entire room seemed to go still, as if no one was sure what to do. Tim wasn't even sure what was going on. Dick had shared his theory about falling into an alternate reality. At first he just brushed it off, Dick just being...well....himself. But the little demon spawn had just asked a girl out on a date. Oh sure, he called it escorting Marinette to the fair for her safety. It didn't sound like he was overly concerned about Chloe's safety. After all, it was unlikely that Marinette would just go without her friend.

He was starting to wonder if Dick might be onto something. It wouldn't be the first time that one or more of them had been sent to a different version of earth. He had to admit Marinette's power to draw people in was rather impressive. Jason was clearly attached to both Marinette and Chloe but it was pretty obvious that he had a special spot for Marinette. It was like she was his emotional little sister. Then there was Ivy and Harley, they had definitely emotionally adopted Marinette and Chloe.

From his observations neither Marinette or Chloe appeared to have any meta abilities. Which was really for the best, because as cool and interesting the French girls were they all knew Bruce's rules about metas in Gotham. The only exceptions were those grandfathered in, like Ivy after she turned over a new leaf. There was no way he could let Dick know he even thought about entertaining his alternate reality theory. He would start going over plans for how to take down their alternate selves.

"Oh...um....." Tim's attention was brought back to what was going on as a blushing Marinette started to give her answer. She looked at Chloe clearly not wanting to leave her best friend alone for some guy.

"Marinette I'm not a child and in need of constant attention." Chloe pointed out. "You can go on a date and I will hang out with Jason."

"D-date?!" Marinette squeaked face going red again.

"Who's going on a date?" Dick asked as he walked into the kitchen with Mar'i riding on his shoulders. He noticed both Marinette and Damian had red faces and instantly became concerned. Were they coming down with something? That would be awful! He wanted them all to go to the fair!

"Dem....Damian just asked Pixie Pop out on a date." Jason reported. Dick felt his mouth drop open, he was so surprised he didn't even think about how Jason had self corrected to use Damian's actual name.

"I did no such thing Todd!" Damian protested with a murderous glare.

Dick recovered from his surprise and decided it would be better to try and diffuse the situation. Damian had that stabby look in his eyes. "Well then Little D what happened?" he asked as he set his daughter down at the table.
"I merely asked Marinette if I may escort her to the fair." Damian explained. He was scowling at Jay but Dick was an expert in reading Damian's body language and from the way his shoulders were a little hunched he was starting to doubt if what head done was appropriate or not. Damian had come so far and Dick was extremely proud of him but he knew there were still some social situations that Damian didn't bother to understand. "After all Gotham is not a safe place. Though perhaps this was not the best idea." The self doubt Dick heard in Dami's voice broke his heart.

"Damian, I would love to go to the fair with you." Marinette answered with a smile. Dick wondered if she could sense Dami's discomfort and was trying to ease the tension. Maybe there was something there. It was about time Dami started to get interested in girls, though part of him worried about what would happen when Marinette went home. Oh well, that was a problem for Future Dick. Not to be confused with Alternate Earth Dick.

Chloe stood up and grabbed Marinette's hand. "We'd better go get ready for the fair." she announced before pulling Marinette out of the kitchen.

Dick watched them go and then looked at the table. "Are those beignets with Red Robin symbols?" he asked.

Chloe let the door close behind herself and Marinette. This was a very interesting development. "Wow I wouldn't have guessed that the youngest Wayne would have the balls to just ask you out on a date like that." she mused before going to sit on the bed.

Marinette's eyes widened and she blushed. "I-it's not really a date." she stammered. "Right?"

"Sounded like he asked you out to me." Chloe shrugged as she typed on her phone. She was texting Luka and Kagami. This was going to be good and she knew her teammates would be mad if they were kept in the dark. "A bit oddly matched....but that might work out for the two of you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Damian was just trying to be nice." Marinette protested. Why was her heart beating so fast?
"Didn't hear my name included on the request to 'escort' you to the fair." Chloe pointed out.
Marinette's eyes narrowed. What was Chloe doing on her phone?? Something about Chloe's focus made her feel a little uneasy.
"If you didn't want to go, why did you agree?" Chloe asked looking up.
"I...I want to go." Marinette replied. "Damian has been so sweet."
"He talks like an aristocratic old me." Chloe replied, looking at her phone again after it buzzed.
Marinette gasped. "He does not!" she argued. "Well...I guess his speech is a little formal. But I think it's refreshing."
"Okay so then you're fine with the date." Chloe smirked.
"It's not a date!" Marinette blushed as she went to her dresser.
"What are you doing?" CHloe asked.
"I'm changing....I don't want to wear this outfit to the fair!" she protested. She could feel Chloe's look of triumph and ignored it.
Damian was starting to have second thoughts. He had asked Marinette to the fair on a whim. Which in itself was strange. He always thought carefully before speaking or doing anything. But he had just been so annoyed over her gushing over how interesting she found Red Robin. So far she had made special treats for Todd, Pennyworth, Kor'i and Mar'i, and finally Drake. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason for whom she chose to favor.
"Ohmigod I can't believe Dami is going on a date!" Richard squealed.
Damian glared. "It...it is not a date!" he protested blushing.
"Sounded like you asked her out to me." Todd said in a calm tone that Damian found oddly infuriating.
"Todd this is none of your business!" he huffed, crossing his arms.
"What's a date?" Mar'i asked as a bowl of cereal was placed in front of her.
"Well sweetie when a boy and girl like one another they agree to go somewhere and have a fun time. They can go to the movies. Or ice skating. Your Uncle Dami asked Marinette to the fair!" Richard explained.
"Uncle Dami, are you and Mari going to get married?" Mar'i asked as she started to eat her cereal.
Damian felt his eyes widened and almost choked tea he had just sipped and ended up coughing.
"They have to see how the date goes." Damian gave Drake a murderous look since he could not voice his thoughts in front of his young impressionable Niece.
He was starting to wonder....did Marinette think this was a date? He had to admit that she was pleasant to be around. Which Damian found rather surprising since he found most females of all ages to be rather annoying. There were some exceptions of course such as Cass and Mar'i. He didn't think they could ever bother him. And of course there were those he had admired such as Wonder Woman. Though now that he thought about it he did admire Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She was strong and brave. Her classmates had turned on her but she stood tall in the face of their stupidity. She was also quite talented, Damian didn't know much about fashion but he knew that making all those outfits could not be an easy task. She will do well in the near future. Marinette was aesthetically pleasing which didn't hurt anything, though just thinking about it made his face heat again.
"Uncle Dami, your face is red!" Mar'i announced.
"Miss Marinette, you look lovely." Damian was thankfully saved from having to acknowledge Mar'i comment by Pennyworth's announcement. Though when he looked up he felt as if his mind went blank from the sight before him.
(A/N:Cliffhanger? A small one. Honestly I need time to pick out a cute look for Marinette. Next chapter will be the beginning of the big date!)
