Long Story Short Sometimes The Best Family Is The One You Pick

(A/N: Introducing Kori and Mar'i!! Marinette makes some special welcome home treats.)

"You are more adorable than five.....no....ten baby glimforps!" Marinette stared up at Dick's wife wide eyed as her cheeks were squished together

"What the hell is a glimforp?" Chloe asked Jason quietly

"No idea." Jason answered back just as softly. "When she says shit like that we kind of just smile and nod."

Marinette was briefly distracted by the exchange but was soon brought back to her original realization. In front of her was Starfire. Under any other circumstances she supposed she would seem familiar. But knowing Dick was Nightwing and the fact that the pair had been teammates for years in their Teen Titan days and beyond was SO obvious. Yes Marinette had done quite a bit of research to get ready for the trip and even more once she found out about the Wayne family's nightly activity. Though now she was wondering if she was too used to the magic of the miraculous to hide her identity or if it was really possible that a simple mask or in the case of Starfire a change of clothes and her hair pulled into a ponytail was enough. Though to be fair people in Gotham were clearly used to minding their own business. It wasn't like no one had passed her that night when the cab driver tried to trap her into paying more, but no one had even glanced over until Jason came to save her. It was a very big change from the friendly people of Paris!

"Marinette, this is my wife Kori Anders-Grayson." Dick beamed proudly.

"Kori...Anders......"Marinette asked, sounding confused. Was Dick's wife seriously named after a spice?!

"Yes." Kori answered, smiling just as brightly as Dick. "Before marriage I was Kori Anders. But many female friends encouraged me to keep my name as it is a noble one and I am not a housewife trapped in the fifties."

"It sounds like a spice." Chloe pointed out.

"Chloe!" Marinette was mortified. It seemed like they were going to have a conversation about thoughts you shared and thoughts you didn't....again. But thankfully Dick and his wife laughed.

"Yes I have heard that before. My name is spelled Koriand'r, but when I came to earth I worried about people's ability to say and spell it. So I went with Kori Anders."

"Oh well that makes sense." Marinette smiled.

"This is our Daughter Mar'i Grayson."

Marinette smiled at the little girl being held by Dick. She had been waiting very patiently to be noticed. Dick set her down and encouraged her to shake hands and Marinette was startled when the little one floated up into the air and wrapped her arms around her neck for a hug.

"Mar'i just learned how to fly." Kori explained.

"I'm just like my mommy even though daddy is a human!" Mar'i exclaimed excitedly before floating back to Dick's arms.

"Very impressive!" Marinette didn't miss a beat with her praise. Little Mar'i was absolutely adorable! "Your Daddy told me you just came back from Tamaran. Did you have fun?"

"Yes!" Mar'i squealed. "It was my first time in space and Mommy said I was very brave."

"I'm sure you were." Marinette smiled. "Every homecoming party needs a special treat. Would you like to help me while your Daddy catches your Mommy up on what happened while you were away?"

Mar'i big green pupiless eyes went wide as she turned a look to Dick. "Can I?!"

Marinette understood the look the two parents shared. "Sure sweet heart." Dick answered. Marinette knew the look of parents who could use a little alone time when she saw it.
