McGonagall had taken Teddy to a place called Diagon Alley where she helped him withdraw some money from a wizarding vault to play for his school supplies.
When he asked her where all the money had come from, McGonagall replied that his parents had left a sum of it for him.
As they were walking down an ally to buy Teddy's school books, he asked, "Are they dead?"
It took McGonagall a minute too long before replying, "No." It was nearly a whisper.
Teddy tried to look for a logical reason his parents would leave him to an orphanage at just over one years old, but he couldn't think of one. So he got mad.
He glared, his hair turning violent red, "Then why'd they leave me?" He asked McGonagall, his anger turning to confusion and sadness. His parents are out there somewhere and they don't want him.
"I don't know," McGonagall signed. "Let's get your books, come."
Teddy was astounded and surprised by all the witches and wizards and kids shopping in the magical little street. He passed a broom stick store where kids had their faces pressed eagerly to the glass admiring a broom. Teddy thought that was a bit strange.
Teddy had grown increasingly happier when McGonagall bought him an ice cream for a shop called Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. It was the best thing he's ever eaten.
"When's your birthday?" McGonagall asked abruptly.
Teddy put his hand dramatically over his heart, "Why Minnie, I'm surprised you asked! It was on July 13th!"
McGonagall shook her head, oh how much this young boy reminded her of his parents, even the silly nickname. Oh the life he could of had!
"Wait here," McGonagall ordered, then walked into a shop. When she walked out, she was holding a cage with a grey owl in in.
"She's for you," McGonagall said "The letter says you have to have a pet, so I got you a late birthday present."
Teddy's mouth was hanging open, Minnie had got him a beautiful owl! No one had ever gotten his anything before, unless you could a knuckle sandwich. Which he didn't.
"Thank you," He whispered, his eyes still transfixed on the owl.

Teddy stood on platform 9 3/4, amazed at the shiny read train that lay before him.
McGonagall gave him a nudge, "Go on, I'll see you at Hogwarts."
Teddy turned to her a gave her a hug. McGonagall was surprised but she patted him on the back.
"Thank you Minnie!" Teddy said.
McGonagall smiled, "It was my pleasure young Mr. Lupin, now hurry up, don't want you being late."
Teddy turned from her, and pulling his new truck and school supplies and owl behind him, he boarded the Hogwarts Express.
